Cook Out (3,078 square feet)
1634 General Booth Boulevard, Dam Neck Crossing, Virginia Beach, VA
Opened in September 2018
The newest purpose-built Cook Out in Hampton Roads is their location in Virginia Beach's Dam Neck Crossing. The building is constructed similarly to other locations of the 2010s with the dining room horizontally spread out across the front end, but it's decidedly smaller than most of the others which were usually 3,600-3,700 square feet in size. It's about the same size as their Norfolk location, but even that one had full-sized restrooms compared to the single occupancy ones here! It's also my first time seeing what was once the newer décor package implemented in one of these purpose-built units, as the previous two I documented with it (Ashland and Glen Allen) were recycled buildings. It seems that the company has gotten to a satisfactory point of expansion in Hampton Roads since no new locations have opened since this one, and they seem to be shifting their attention to new regions like NOVA; a location opened in Manassas last fall with a newer look than what this location has, so hopefully I'll eventually have a chance to check that one out or another with the new look.
My maternal Grandmother was born a Cook. The Cook family has held family reunions for decades. The photos in this album were from a reunion held in Medford, Oregon
I got an invite yesterday, to go on a little Sunday stroll along the banks of the River Haddeo with jumpforjoy2010, me'nthedogs and their partners... Hopefully to get some shots of those bleddy Goosanders... As luck would have it the Haddeo valley was completely devoid of life, even this baby rat had spent the night in a freezer and refused to move even when poked.
