Somewhere near Lamayaru on the way to Leh in Ladakh.
"One of the first thing that strikes you when entering the territory of Ladakh is the lush greenery of the valleys contrasting wildly with the surrounding red and brown barren mountains and the unearthly blue of the skies above."
This image was taken back in the early stage of autumn back in October at the woods near Stourhead.
I was fortunate to be able to capture the golden colours of autumn before Mother Nature decided wind and rain would be best.
The transition of colour was something that was noticeable. I wanted to capture this transition against the ever green forest or vice versa. To achieve this I adjusted the focal length to move further into the landscape and adjusting the composition.

The Ricoh has a really great High Contrast BW Filter it is able to apply to JPEGS. Normally not an effect kind of shooter, but the look it gives is really unique. Tried mimicing the look, but decided to post a few with the effect on and some personal tweaks.
Enjoy!
This tree was on edge of pine plantation, and so some sunlight just catching some of its dead branches. I kept the wood beyond dark.
I rather liked the juxtaposition between the cheery yellow flower and wall, and the razor wire. The blue sky added a bit of color contrast.
Two vests, two jackets, full gloves on the ride in this morning, in five degrees C and fog; tipping twenty degrees on the reverse route home. Stopped to smell the roses (was exactly the opposite of that olfactorial experience) and watch the farmer farm. For a day not a kick in arse off of October, this is most welcome indeed.

I had not thought of these as possible subject until I happened to see it. I think if given project, then makes you look out for possible subjects. Otherwise, I would probably just walked on by without hardly noticing or registering possible image
DailyShoot: Using contrast in your photography can give you very artistic shots. Make a color photo with high contrast today.
Contrasting textures and colors. It's a lemon...on a pillow. :)
I bought this camera from a fellow photographer here in Winnipeg for $50.00. It was a bargain as it included the 50mm lens. Anyways, I was cleaning the house one Saturday morning and I saw this rug. I knew that I can use this someday as a photo backdrop. That day came! The Black,Red and Silver colors really played nice to each other.
Photo taken using my wife's Canon G10 P&S at 100 ISO using natural light.
Sometimes you see things in a different way ... A black will always have a white and a white will always have a black ....
Have a nice day everyone ...

I was going to call this VPL abstract but I don't think it's abstract enough but there are different contrasts (again) in this image.
Out of the wind at Milford Sound there was some still water with amazing light making the meeting of the mountain and water very striking!
