I noticed this huge contrast between so many glorious wild pink roses and the sad burned down house. When I first saw it I was riding my bike past and thought of this challenge. A few days ago the roses were in full bloom and it really was quitea striking contrast. I drove ten miles to go back there with my camera specifically for today's challenge! I must be crazy but I hope you all enjoy!

I'm a sucker for shots like this with layers of different light

Contrast through position, and size.

I have lived in Mumbai over sixty years or more beyond my old house Khatau Bhuvan was the sea front I still remember the giy who sold snacks called bhel this area was called Cuffe Parade one of my girlfriend and I would meet when the land was being reclaimed from the sea now it is concrete jungle of high rise towers for the rich and the mighty there are slums beyond and a fishing village .

We moved out in 1963 to Strand Colaba ..we still have the house my brother Zahir lived there .

Mumbai has changed a lot I relocated to Bandra after I got a job in 1983 we bought our first house at a fishing village Danpada Khar than came the riots Hindu Muslim riots 93 we lost everything we had to start from scratch lived in safe house went to Colaba for few weeks my Hindu boss film producer let us stay in a bunglow at Juhu than shifted us to Andheri link road we finally took a house in Bandra Ranwar East Indian commune .

Finally got our own house at De Monte Street Bandra we sold it in 2005 again took a place on rent opp Mehboob Studios till we got the new house Bandra Reclamation we have lived here since 2007 .

The picture I have posted shows how Mumbai is changing sprawling slums give way to condos towers skyscraper s.

I shot this picture in central Mumbai .

Lots of old house bungalows shanties are being eased out ..I love to shoot East Indian and modern architecture...

When I go to a friend's house in Colaba he stays on the ninth floor I can see my old house now the building is called Jony CastleI can see Sassoon docks and even the Taj Mahal hotel.

I shoot nostalgia when I shoot pictures of building s houses .

Another image from Native Glasgow. In contrast to the last image, I knew as soon as I wore this dress I wanted to get an image using it somehow. When I saw the green of the tiles in the shower I knew the contrasting colours would work.

This is a bit of a different image, not long before I shot it I attended an online workshop with Lee Allen via Photography Farmers. He was talking about flash photography and how he uses flash to achieve an editorial photography style. One of the things he said was his favourite type of photos were phone photographs that included his wife and dog and were blurred or out of focus, because this usually meant "Something was happening".

He also did a lot of technical talk about how to direct flash and how to be directing your subject.

I thought about that quite a bit. When you shoot self portraits usually it's you, a tripod and a camera. You can place the camera and test shoot to see where you will fall in the frame, where the focus point is and ensure you are happy with the alignment.

Often I lean towards a very posed static image which gives a particular type of portrait. For this image I started that way and then decided to try something different. I put a lot more movement into my dress and the pose, at times dancing about all whilst shooting. This was the one that stood out. I like the movement through the dress and the turn-back. This is something I'll try again and maybe with couples when I shoot weddings.

Nature radiates it's light and colours as it wishes ...

They say opposites attract, and what better example is there when this yellow Clouded Sulphur landed on these purple flowers.

In an art class in college I learned that colors had their opposites, and the one that stands out most vividly to me was that yellow and purple were opposites.

PROJECT 52

Episode 19

Theme : Color & Contrast

Contrast.

This is a school project I had to do, to illustrate contrast somehow.

The word literally means "to compare in order to show differences or unlikeliness"

I chose to demonstrate how men and women are different, still one can be defined by the other.

Frykstad-Clara Elf's Railroad was Sweden's first for public traffic and ranged between the lake Fryken in Kil and Lyckan in Forshaga. Inaugurated by King Oscar I in September 1849. Initially the railroad cars were pulled by horses and oxes, the first steam locomotive was introduced in 1856.

This locomotive, SJ B 1143, was built in 1913 by AB Motala Verkstad, Sweden, manufacturing nr 489.
