June 19, 2011: The Palace Pier - Brighton, England
everyone wants to get in on the action
This was my only day down at the English seaside while on my recent trip to the UK. Not exactly what I call beach weather. It was extremely windy on the pier with intermittent rays of light breaking through the ominous sky.

The Brighton Marine Palace and Pier is a pleasure pier in Brighton, England. It is generally known as the Palace Pier for short, but has been informally renamed Brighton Pier since 2000. Work began on the Palace Pier in 1891 and it opened in May 1899 after costing a record £27,000 to build. This was Brighton's third pier.
This picture is posted thanks to my good Flickr friend The Black Rabbit and it is a reworking of an older picture.
This was taken in the Montmarche district of Paris and is not a set-up shot. We were just sat having a coffee with friends whilst on holiday and as usual ;-) I wandered off with my camera and just spotted this interesting juxtaposition as the rain began to fall so I grabbed a quick shot with the Canon G9.
At the farmers market last Firday to pick up some fresh vegetables for our Good Friday dinner!
When the weather finally gets warm and stays that way, we plan to buy some of these to go with ice cold Coronas and hot springtime sun!
The view of Etna's summit area this morning (31 May 2013) pretty much tells it all - we're half in summer, but not quite yet ... the volcano is hot and cold, and I did some contrast and color enhancing on this photo, I admit. So it's contrasts all over. A tiny dusting of fresh snow fell in Etna's summit area during a spell of bad weather yesterday, but the snow immediately melted on the new cone of the Southeast Crater, in the right half of the image, which is still emitting heat although it has not shown any eruptive activity since a series of small explosions on 1-2 May 2013. The view here is from my home in Tremestieri Etneo, 20 km south of Etna's summit
