Hours of context-fill and cloning might expose this bird to public view, but it's not worth the effort and would falsify the image. However, I do fantasize about a post-processing tool that would resolve such obstructed views. Years ago during a natural resource inventory that involved lots of nonlethal trapping, a more experienced zoologist told me that a Mammal could be defined as anything that ate Peanut Butter. My retort these days is that a Bird is any creature that perches on two legs in a tree, facing away from the camera with at least one twig between the photographer and the creature's eye.

BIBLICAL CONTEXT: Philippians 4:7-11 NIV
(from biblegateway.com)
7 One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing;
another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
8 A person’s riches may ransom their life,
but the poor cannot respond to threatening rebukes.
9 The light of the righteous shines brightly,
but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.
10 Where there is strife, there is pride,
but wisdom is found in those who take advice.
11 Dishonest money dwindles away,
but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.

5 MORE THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
1. Like it or not, we are ALL sinners: As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” (Romans 3:10-12 NLT)
2. The punishment for sin is death: When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Romans 5:12 NLT)
3. Jesus is our only hope: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8 NLT) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NLT)
4. SALVATION is by GRACE through FAITH in JESUS: God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT)
5. Accept Jesus and receive eternal life: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12 NLT) And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12 NLT)

Small little bird.. Some of my recent birding attempts. Not easy to capture photos on the fly. I can see why people go and sit and wait with camera on a tripod.
To accompany my Twin Tanks photo posted on May 5, this frame from the drone flight video out to the ridge shows part of the extent of this elegant cliff with its vermilion-orange and white.sandstone. As you can see, the clouds were dramatic as I filmed the scene in the last minutes of direct light. The outcrop is about 0.6 miles in length, comparable to White Pocket.
Twin Tanks is one of many sites on the Paria Plateau that continue the theme of exotic sandstone formations that make Coyote Buttes and White Pocket famous. This one, 8 miles southeast of White Pocket, is virtually unknown to the many tourists to the famous sites. I could not find any other photos of it except for one in Kelsey's book.
the picture is about 5x7, so the mask is probably just under 2 inches long/tall. i had to clone out the store lights, which took a while. but then again, it wasn't virtual dusting this week ~grin~

When Edward Burtynsky (1955- ) turned his attention to China in 2000, it seemed a natural continuation of the photographs he had been creating for over twenty years. Universally termed "industrial landscapes," his images focus on the environmental and cultural impact of Man-made technologies. In 'Manufacturing #10' Burtynsky unearths a beauty in his subjects, striking a nuanced balance between the harsh objectivity of the works' documentarian context and the finesse of contemporary art photography.
Burtynsky's oversized works have a sense of grandiosity and monumentality. There is an initial visual appeal of vibrant colors, details and scale; however, on closer inspection, the environmental dilemma unfolds. They are introspective and meditative, capturing a 'contemplative moment' where landscapes provide visual and emotional resonance.

5 Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
6 Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
your justice like the great deep.
You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.
7 How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
8 They feast on the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from your river of delights.
9 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.

BIBLICAL CONTEXT: 1 Corinthians 13:8-13 NIV
(from biblegateway.com)
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Via Guglielmo Röntgen 1 cv Viale Bligny Milano, Milán
Grafton Architects: Shelley McNamara e Yvonne Farrell 2002-08

Pink-footed Geese are the wild goose species that I see most frequently in the Pennines as they traverse between lowland feeding grounds in Lancashire and Norfolk. Occasionally they join the feral Greylags on the Pennine reservoirs but usually I see them flying over like this: www.flickr.com/photos/timmelling/50779057878/in/photolist I have long wanted to photograph a skein of Pinks flying over Svalbard but the flocks are much smaller in the Arctic as they soon disperse to get on with the business of breeding where the female incubates and the male stands guard like this: www.flickr.com/photos/timmelling/53920238139/in/photolist
Britain supports about 85% of the global population of Pink-footed Geese in winter and these come from breeding grounds in Greenland and Iceland. But the remaining 15% breed on Svalbard, which is where I photographed these. The Svalbard population overwinters in the Low Countries (Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg). Like most geese, they are easier to count on their winter quarters and in November 2019 the Svalbard population was estimated to be 80,400 individuals (not pairs) from coordinated winter counts in Europe.
I know the geese in this photo are small but I was after a photograph that showed flying geese in the context of their spectacular Arctic breeding grounds. This photo was taken in Isfjord on the west coast of the island of Spitsbergen.
Art in the Streets is the first major U.S. museum survey of graffiti and street art. Curated by MOCA Director Jeffrey Deitch and Associate Curators Roger Gastman and Aaron Rose, the exhibition will trace the development of graffiti and street art from the 1970s to the global movement it has become today, concentrating on key cities such as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, and Sao Paulo, where a unique visual language or attitude has evolved. The exhibition will feature paintings, mixed media sculptures, and interactive installations by 50 of the most dynamic artists and will emphasize Los Angeles's role in the evolution of graffiti and street art, with special sections dedicated to seminal local movements such as cholo graffiti and Dogtown skateboard culture. A comprehensive timeline illustrated with artwork, photos, video, and ephemera will provide a historical context for the work.
---------------------
The Trinkhall museum, succeeding the MADmusée, opened its doors on June 18th, 2020. It houses a collection, unique in the world, of works of art created in the context of workshops by artists with mental disabilities, cognitive impairment or great psycho-social fragility. The Trinkhall collection, which continues to grow, is rich of more than three thousand pieces (paintings, drawings, engravings and sculptures), coming from all over the world (...)
Therefore, if it were necessary to summarize in a few words the museum project, the mission with which it is invested - together with the collection - it would be in these terms: defense and the intelligence of the expressive power of fragile worlds that , today more than ever, seem extremely topical.
--------------------

In general, the Painted Lady is a large butterfly (wing span 5–9 cm identified by the black and white corners of its mainly deep orange, black-spotted wings. It has five white spots in the black forewing tips and while the orange areas may be pale here and there, there are no clean white dots in them. The hindwings carry four small submarginal eyespots on dorsal and ventral sides. Those on the dorsal side are black, but in the summer morph sometimes small blue pupils are present in some. In Europe it migrates annually between North Africa, including Morocco, and northern Europe, using a sun compass for orientation. It was originally thought that the northward movement was a 'Pied Piper' migration, but evidence now exists for an autumn southwards return migration.
The lifespan of a Painted Lady Butterfly is 2–4 weeks.
Kenmerken
Voorvleugellengte: 26-30 mm.

Jezero crater, the touchdown site for NASA’s Mars 2020 Perseverance rover, in context of its surroundings. It is situated between highlands, an impact basin, a volcanic province and an ancient river delta. The dark bluish-black areas are layers of ancient volcanic ash that is widely dispersed by the wind, often piling up into impressive dune fields.
This image was created from the red, green and blue channels of the High Resolution Stereo Camera on ESA’s Mars Express, combined with high-resolution data from its nadir channel, which is directed perpendicular to the surface of Mars.
The high resolution of the data processed for this image allows for greater enlargement, enabling a closer look at individual details of the landscape. Small gaps in the image mosaic were interpolated.

Vaya.
To accompany other posts about Clam Butte, I'm including this shot of it from half mile away. Attractions at the butte are geological features and terrific views. The highest feature for several miles around, Clam Butte is made up of remnants of several strata that once covered a wider area. The top is conglomerate under a cap rock.
The flat-topped mesa stands about 300 feet above the prairie here on the southeast end of West Clark Bench. Easiest approach to the summit is on the west side (right side of photo). It can be reached from the road to Middle Route to the Buckskin Gulch.
The inset shows a view from Google Earth showing why I call it Clam Butte. North is down, to match the direction of the photo. I've indicated the location of The Trophy pillar on the east side. Farther east the apron of the butte drops rapidly to the Paria River. South of the butte the white apron drops rapidly down to Buckskin Gulch.
On May 2, 2021, I circumnavigated the apron of the butte and walked the rim of the summit also. Views all around are exceptional, especially to the south overlooking the Paria Plateau toward Wolf Knoll and White Pocket.
There were no indications others had been there except for a small rock pile on the summit. To date I have not found other photos of the butte or of The Trophy except distant photos from across the canyons. Hikers to Cobra Arch see Clam Butte about 0.75 mile away from the trail before it descends The Dive, but so far I have not found indications that any of them have paid attention to it in their focus on finding the arch. I think Clam Butte could be a popular hike if more people knew about it.
