Friends, 5th Novemebr, 200 Tn the context of falling sex .ratio in India, the increasing number of female foeticide, cases of sexual abuse and violenct a body like Gender Sensit.isation Committee against Sexual harassment of JNU has an extremely significant ant exemplary role to play not only within the limits of rhc campus but ar the national level as well. This body, the first of it: kiods was constiruted jn 1999 on the principles laid by the Visakha vs the State of Rajasthan verdict of the 13th august 1997. Tt was the rcsull of a vibrant struggle launched by progressive and like minded students-teachcrs-karmacharis who compelled the then JNU administratton to acknowledge the fact that the rc5ponsibility of providing an envuonment free of sexual huassment lie~ upon them But it was just the bcgLnning of a bitter battle with the adm.inistrauon and all the reactio nary forces of rhe campus who time and again tried ro tamper with the democratic and autOnomous functiorung of this body. Consequently In the inttiaJ years the GSCASH had to really strive hard to ensure that the complaints of .

Policy Forum on Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Context of Demographic Shifts in Asia
The UN Women Centre of Excellence for Gender Equality partnered with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to host the Policy Forum on Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) in the Context of Demographic Shifts in Asia on 12-13 November. The forum convened diplomats, policymakers, researchers, private sector leaders, and civil society experts from China, Japan, Korea, and Thailand to exchange diverse perspectives.
Discussions explored the interconnections between demographic shifts, WEE, and the Care Economy. Participants exchanged strategies and policies addressing challenges such as low fertility rates and ageing populations. A High-Level Dialogue featured ambassadors and senior experts, offering insights into innovative policies and practices.
Building on the 2024 Asia Pacific Care Forum, the event deepened understanding of the Care Economy's role in shaping effective responses to demographic shifts in the region.
