Contentedly munching his bamboo breakfast. Chengdu's Giant Panda Breeding Research Station is the best place to see the Da Xiong Mao (big bear cat) short of taking the four hour bus to WoLong, where you won't see them in the wild anyway, and it's probably a similar environment.

a little post over here

sorry, i realize this may be a little gross to some people but not to our family of curious animal lovers.

we found this bird on the cement patio right next to the house...he must have flown right into the house? we have never, EVER seen a bird like him around here. it shamefully took us 20 whole minutes of searching the internet to figure out that he is a Yellow-Shafted Northern Flicker. when I sent pics to my Dad, he knew right away what it was!
