Another shot from our morning outing to Two Jack Lake in Banff National Park....not a spectacular sunrise, but it was calm, peaceful, and so still. A great way to start the day....one of my contacts recently asked if we ever sleep in when we're on vacation....not a chance; in fact, we are probably some of the few people that are up and looking for a new adventure even earlier than we get up on a normal day :-) Busy the last couple of days dealing with a hard drive that was in the process of dying; got everything backed up and a new drive installed, so keeping my fingers crossed that the problem is fixed. Will catch up with everyone soon; thanks for all your visits and comments!!!

This is a "digital painting" of an original picture which means that I have post-process image in order to look a bit like a painting. I do so in Photoshop, using filters and a graphic pen on a Wacom Tablet.
Rosevale country postcard - fresian cows in relaxation mode on diary pasture. (full colour mix) One of the few diary farms left around Rosevale. There are changes in farmers' approaches in the area as the diary industry structurally adjusts to a modern economy. There are very few diary farms left. Most of the land has been given over to beef cattle (as with this one), horse studs and hobby farms. Whether or not this is a good thing remains to be seen...

I will post another new video of this Barn Owl digging out & consuming a Vole this morning. These two shots are before & after shots. First came across it on a stick with head down as in 1st photo. It must have been watching intently as it suddenly dropped down & set to work (as in the video). 2nd shot it just sat there in a contented manner
A village in China called Wang Chuen where people lived a simple but contented life. After their meal, some were doing their household chores in the pond while others took a leisure walk along the narrow path, never worrying what happened beyond their walls.
A quick snap of a very contented Archie licking his lips after a fishy lunch, quickly edit on the mobile Lightroom App.
....contented and happy singing his heart out. It was lovely to hear an answer to his song come drifting by to which he sang to again.

Hard against the Cliffs of Moher in west Ireland (County Clare) is some of the most beautiful pasture land God ever created. Calling the cows and sheep that graze these lush green fields contented is probably an understatement. They have a great view too!
... on Starcross golf course, Devon. Dark-bellied Brent Geese (Branta bernicla bernicla), with a few other wetland birds (I can just make out Mallard, Curlew, Herring Gull and Lapwing). You can also see a foreshortened view across the (just visible) Exe Estuary to the outskirts of Exmouth.
Swan (Marika) and three geese each found a rock of just-the-right-size, and spent the rest of the morning contentedly preening with a little beauty sleep in between.

Ali ibn Abi Talib
(Arabic: علي بن أﺑﻲ طالب; Transliteration: ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib,
13th Rajab, 24 BH–21st Ramaḍān, 40 AH; approximately October 23, 598 or 600 or March 17, 599 – January 27, 661) was the cousin and son-in-law of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and ruled over the Islamic Caliphate from 656 to 661, and was the first male convert to Islam.
Sunni Muslims consider Ali the fourth and final of the Rashidun (rightly guided Caliphs), while Shi'a Muslims regard Ali as the first Imam and consider him and his descendants the rightful successors to Muhammad, all of which are members of the Ahl al-Bayt, the household of Muhammad. This disagreement split the Ummah (Muslim community) into the Sunni and Shi'a branches.
Muslim sources, especially Shi'a ones, state that during Muhammad's time, Ali was the only person born in the Kaaba sanctuary in Mecca, the holiest place in Islam. His father was Abu Talib ibn Abd al-Muttalib and his mother was Fatima bint Asad, but he was raised in the household of Muhammad, who himself was raised by Abu Talib, Muhammad's uncle. When Muhammad reported receiving a divine revelation, Ali was the first male to accept his message, dedicating his life to the cause of Islam.
Ali migrated to Medina shortly after Muhammad did. Once there Muhammad told Ali that God had ordered Muhammad to give his daughter, Fatimah, to Ali in marriage. For the ten years that Muhammad led the community in Medina, Ali was extremely active in his service, leading parties of warriors on battles, and carrying messages and orders. Ali took part in the early caravan raids from Mecca and later in almost all the battles fought by the nascent Muslim community.
Ali was appointed Caliph by the Companions of Muhammad (the Sahaba) in Medina after the assassination of the third caliph, Uthman ibn Affan. He encountered defiance and civil war during his reign. In 661, Ali was attacked one morning while worshipping in the mosque of Kufa, and died a few days later.
In Muslim culture, Ali is respected for his courage, knowledge, belief, honesty, unbending devotion to Islam, deep loyalty to Muhammad, equal treatment of all Muslims and generosity in forgiving his defeated enemies, and therefore is central to mystical traditions in Islam such as Sufism. Ali retains his stature as an authority on Qur'anic exegesis, Islamic jurisprudence and religious thought. Ali holds a high position in almost all Sufi orders which trace their lineage through him to Muhammad. Ali's influence has been important throughout Islamic history.

Annabella and Petronella are totally contented with their lives - and who wouldn't be content living in the Rose'n Palace with an endless supply of macarons and tea ...
All it took was a simple blade of green grass to keep this cockatoo contented.
Perched on a farm gate it was deeply engrossed in its find and was oblivious to me moving in close.

He came to us from a farm where other cattle are typically used for food. The owners felt Ferdinand was special and contacted us so we could let him live a long and happy life."

A series of photos taken at Colchester Zoo, Essex. These cover approx fives years of taking Grandchildren of various ages. They seem to like it, having the camera gives a sort of diminished responsibility. 'See Granddad's gone off again'.

Contented cows and horses, along with some oat shocks, bask in the sun's warm golden rays this evening.
I normally will wait for a person to clear the field of view but when she sat down you could see and feel her contented sigh. So I took the photo !!

Here's another 35mm slide rescue from 1983. This cow moose was contentedly feeding in Pelican Creek east of Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone when I got its picture.
These are great days for photographers when AI tools like Topaz can bring new life to old photos, as long as it is not overdone. There are limitations, of course. With the low exposure latitude, color space and dynamic range of a faded slide, post-processing could not generate what wasn't there. There was no data in the shadowed parts of the moose, for instance, and very little color in the highlights. But processing tools can enlarge, denoise, balance and sharpen an otherwise poor image. It could have done better at removing dust spots in the sky; I'm working on that.
