Guanacos are herbivores so sitting in the long grass looks like a convenient way to eat. They are protected across Chile with the exception of within the island of Tierra del Fuego, where they are legally hunted for meat and their coat. This one was photographed close by but not on the island and given that there are no land corridors it wouldn't have know any different, so would feel safe.
Here is another shot from the archives. I came across this pair of mallards during a winter photo shoot at the Reifel Bird Conservation Area. As I recall, it was a mild winter day, and this mallard couple were dozing comfortably in the sun. They seemed quite contented. The photo was taken in December 2019, with my trusty Olympus digital camera. Enjoy and stay well.

Emily is one very lucky dog, a rescue who is now not only in the best home ever, but also gets taken on holiday! She loved running at top speed on the beach and then settled with her paw over her new mum's (my friend's) boot, content to just watch the scene below us from our spot on the dunes.

It was a beautiful fall afternoon when Lord Waldor contentedly stood in front of his castle. The king's envoys had just come to bring him his reward for services rendered. He knew the king was reluctant to do it, but without Lord Waldor's help this place was a lot less safe.
While he was quietly enjoying himself, his wife suddenly came out. “Waldor, Waldor! Waldomir is gone!” Waldomir, their son, is a nice but oh so enterprising and curious boy. And now… now he was gone.
"How is that possible? How could he have disappeared?" Waldor asked.
“I don't know!” his wife replied “Just a moment ago he was still with the watchman on top of the dark tower. He had joined him to watch the shepherd arriving.”
“And you’re sure he’s not inside the castle right now?”
"No, he's not there anymore. After he had been with the watchman he also took a glimpse of the oxcart the envoys brought in, but no one has seen him since.”
Lord Waldor gazed ahead of him, looking pensive. The king did not reward him wholeheartedly… It couldn’t be- “What is it, Waldor?” his wife asked, breaking his train of thought.
“The envoys..” he said “You don’t believe they- but no, I don't think he’d fit in the empty coffer.”
“No! They wouldn't have!? Quickly! Send a few men after the bullock cart! And let another ask the shepherd if he might've seen Waldomir! Oh, where is Waldomir?!”
Can you find Waldomir for Lord Waldor and his wife?

Grazing contentedly alongside the roadway, unconcerned when we stopped to get a photo or two.
The river was such an interesting color.
It was a busy day feeding squirrels in the park during my morning run. It is always fun to watch them enjoying the walnuts.

Sailing across the deep blue sea,
feeling the breeze that blows so free,
the sun beaming down,
feels so calming enriching to me.
Sailing through life,
with gentlest of ease,
feeling happy and contented,
with a smile to please.
Sailing through our emotions,
through the ups and downs,
coping with the tragedy's,
that sometimes slows us down.
Sailing through relationships,
some good, some bad, some the worst you,ve ever had,
makes us stronger and wiser,
some regrets we may have had.
Sailing on the wings of an angel,
protected and so free,
knowing that someone up there is always watching over me.
Sailing, sailing, sailing,
has so many meanings to me,
other than sailing on the deep blue sea.

This contented little dark-eyed junco didn't seem to mind the fact that there were still lots of icicles to contend with on the trees today. Luckily, they were mostly melted away by evening.

This contented little junco looks to be wearing a warm winter scarf that's blowing around in the breeze - but in reality they're just some oddly-arranged back feathers.
Don't know the species but the color changes are wonderful. It was living contentedly next door to the previous Hibiscus. It does well enlarged.
This shot was taken on a beautiful afternoon in late May at Sheffield Park, a National Trust Garden in East Sussex.

Beautiful fountain and worthy customer. Ibises are a group of long-legged wading birds in the family Threskiornithidae, that inhabit wetlands, forests and plains. Ibises usually feed as a group, probing mud for food items, usually crustaceans. It is widespread across much of Australia. It has a predominantly white plumage with a bare, black head, long down curved bill and black legs. They are monogamous and highly territorial while nesting and feeding. Most nest in trees, often with spoonbills or herons. Due to its increasing presence in the urban environment and its habit of rummaging in garbage, the species has acquired a variety of colloquial names such as tip turkey; and bin chicken, and in recent years has become an icon of popular culture, being regarded with passion, wit, and, in equal measure, affection and disgust. 28715
"It is great wealth to a soul to live frugally with a contented mind." Lucretius.
Almost hanging from the cliffs, on the north coast of Ireland, we can find the Mussenden Temple, a beautiful building with impressive views over the Atlantic Ocean. Its construction, completed in 1803, was ordered by Lord Bristol, popularly known as the "Earl-Bishop", since he had both titles. Despite its name, the Mussenden Temple was not a temple, but a library, and its name is due to the fact that its architecture is inspired by the Temple of Bramante in Rome, which both the bishop and its architect were able to admire on their many trips to Italy.
The erosion of the cliffs was taking the building more and more towards their edge, to the point that in 1997 stabilization work had to be carried out to prevent it from falling into the void. Due to the risk of landslides, taking a photograph like this requires extreme caution to avoid an accident.
On this occasion, although the sunset seemed to be even more incredible because of the clouds that covered the sky minutes before, in the end a large part of the sky was cleared. However, the beauty of the warm sunlight on the scene really satisfied me, and it is always a fortune to be able to admire how the sun hides behind the horizon.

Another shot from our morning outing to Two Jack Lake in Banff National Park....not a spectacular sunrise, but it was calm, peaceful, and so still. A great way to start the day....one of my contacts recently asked if we ever sleep in when we're on vacation....not a chance; in fact, we are probably some of the few people that are up and looking for a new adventure even earlier than we get up on a normal day :-) Busy the last couple of days dealing with a hard drive that was in the process of dying; got everything backed up and a new drive installed, so keeping my fingers crossed that the problem is fixed. Will catch up with everyone soon; thanks for all your visits and comments!!!

Rosevale country postcard - fresian cows in relaxation mode on diary pasture. (full colour mix) One of the few diary farms left around Rosevale. There are changes in farmers' approaches in the area as the diary industry structurally adjusts to a modern economy. There are very few diary farms left. Most of the land has been given over to beef cattle (as with this one), horse studs and hobby farms. Whether or not this is a good thing remains to be seen...
