Entrada del Castillo de Iznajar, en la provincia de Cordoba, o Hisn-Ashar, y que se ubica en la parte más alta del Barrio de La Villa.
Este Castillo es el símbolo y génesis de la localidad, y comenzó hacia mediados del Siglo VIII, probablemente por constructores hispanogodos, continuándose con sucesivas reconstrucciones y ampliaciones hasta el siglo XV.
De origen árabe da nombre a la localidad, derivando del sustantivo “hisn” (castillo) y del adjetivo “al-ashar” (alegre).

Desde la orilla de Huatajata en el lago menor del Titicaca se pueden divisar la isla de suriqui sede de los constructores de balsas de Totora.

Yo, Cayo Julio Lacer, maestro constructor de lo que hoy llamáis, el Puente de Alcántara, y en el que mis cenizas, esperando que la tierra me fuera leve, fueron entregadas al Templo que hice construir para el culto y veneración de los dioses y del César.
Obra arquitectónica en la que quise reflejar las tres cualidades que exigía el antiguo Vitrubio a toda edificación: "Firmitas", "Utilitas" y "Venustas", es decir: Firmeza, Utilidad y Hermosura.
Los Dioses, alabados sean, me acompañaron durante la construcción de este paso sobre el rio Tagus, que desde Norba comunicaría Conimbriga, ya en nuestra provincia romana de la Lusitania, y desde allí a Olisipo, al sur o a Brácara Augusta, al norte.
Hice dejar escritas en las cuatro lápidas que fueron colocadas en el Arco de Triunfo, a todos los pueblos que con sus tributos contribuyeron a la construcción del puente, pero el paso del tiempo las hicieron desaparecer y la copia que actualmente encontraréis os puede hacer pensar que solo estos pueblos fueron los que sufragaron la obra. Viajero¡¡¡, piensa que eran muchas las ciudades de la antigua Lusitania que se beneficiaron de esta comunicación con la vía de la Plata y con el resto del Imperio.
Orgulloso de mi obra, y pecando de cierta vanidad, que vosotros justificareis al ver el Puente, hice dejar escrito, con el favor de mi Emperador Trajano: PONTEM PERPETUI MANSVRVM IN SECULA MVNDI: El puente que permanecerá en pie por los siglos del mundo.

Stonehenge es uno de los monumentos prehistóricos más emblemáticos y enigmáticos del mundo. Se trata de un crómlech megalítico, es decir, un círculo de grandes piedras, situado en la llanura de Salisbury, cerca de Amesbury, en el condado de Wiltshire, Inglaterra, a unos 13 kilómetros al norte de Salisbury.
Cronología y construcción
•Origen y fases: La construcción de Stonehenge se inició hacia el 3100 a.C., en el final del Neolítico, y continuó en varias fases hasta aproximadamente el 1600 a.C., ya en la Edad del Bronce. El monumento no fue construido de una sola vez, sino que se desarrolló en al menos tres grandes etapas:
•Primera fase (c. 3100 a.C.): Se construyó un foso circular y un terraplén de unos 110 metros de diámetro, probablemente utilizado para ceremonias y enterramientos.
•Segunda fase: Se erigieron estructuras de madera dentro del recinto, que posteriormente fueron sustituidas por piedras.
•Tercera fase (c. 2500-2000 a.C.): Se levantaron los grandes bloques de piedra (sarsen y piedras azules), conformando el círculo y las estructuras que se pueden ver hoy.
•Materiales y transporte:
•Las piedras sarsen (las más grandes) provienen de Marlborough Downs, a unos 32 km del sitio, y cada una pesa unas 25 toneladas.
•Las piedras azules (bluestones), más pequeñas y con un tono azulado, fueron traídas desde las colinas de Preseli, en Gales, a más de 200 km de distancia. Su transporte es aún motivo de debate, aunque la teoría más aceptada es que se movieron usando trineos y rodillos de madera sobre rieles.
•Técnicas de construcción: Los constructores cavaron hoyos inclinados, colocaron las piedras con ayuda de cuerdas, palancas y posiblemente plataformas de madera. Los dinteles horizontales se unían mediante juntas machihembradas, un avance técnico notable para la época.
Función y significado
El propósito exacto de Stonehenge sigue siendo incierto. Las teorías más aceptadas sugieren que fue:
•Un lugar de enterramiento: Se han hallado más de 150 entierros de cremación en el sitio, lo que lo convierte en el mayor cementerio conocido de Gran Bretaña de esa época.
•Un espacio ceremonial o religioso: Su alineación con los solsticios sugiere un uso astronómico, posiblemente como calendario para marcar eventos importantes como el solsticio de verano e invierno.
•Un centro social y de reunión para las comunidades agrícolas del Neolítico y la Edad del Bronce.

Creo que los maestros constructores cuando diseñaban estos edificios pensaban en el espacio interior y a partir de este creaban el edificio y los muros que deberían rodear este grandioso espacio interior. A partir de su sabiduría y experiencia aportaban estructuras cada más ligeras que hacían penetrar la luz creando así estos maravillosos edificios, que son realmente la envoltura de este espacio interior. Muchas veces me equivoco y valoro mas esta envoltura y su esqueleto dejando descuidada la idea que predomina de la grandiosidad de sus espacios vacíos en donde esta contenida el alma de estos edificios.
Estas proporciones exteriores – interiores se ven sujetas a las leyes físicas, pero trasladándonos al mundo más espiritual y de relaciones humanas las leyes físicas ya no cuentan, después de todo este rollo voy contaros lo que rondaba por mi cabeza…jejejejeje. Por fin ayer estuve cenando con mi amigo Paco, hacia semanas o casi meses que lo estábamos intentando, el es una pequeña persona (jejejejeje se que no se ofenderá por decirle pequeño de tamaño), pero si las leyes de la física tuviesen que cumplirse en él, seria la persona mas grande y alta que conozco, debería ser un súper gigante para que todo ese espacio interior de cariño, generosidad, amistad, compañerismo, y amor verdadero pudiese caber en su interior.
Es posible que alguno de vosotros haya leído algo suyo, realiza comic social, el ultimo ha sido Arrugas para la versión Española y Rides en versión Francesa, trata sobre el alzehimer y la soledad de nuestros mayores y es toda una joya, seguro que no os defraudara.

The Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo (Spanish: Catedral Primada Santa María de Toledo), otherwise Toledo Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic church in Toledo, Spain. It is the seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Toledo.
The cathedral of Toledo is one of the three 13th-century High Gothic cathedrals in Spain and is considered, in the opinion of some authorities, to be the magnum opus of the Gothic style in Spain. It was begun in 1226 under the rule of Ferdinand III and the last Gothic contributions were made in the 15th century when, in 1493, the vaults of the central nave were finished during the time of the Catholic Monarchs. It was modeled after the Bourges Cathedral, although its five naves plan is a consequence of the constructors' intention to cover all of the sacred space of the former city mosque with the cathedral, and of the former sahn with the cloister. It also combines some characteristics of the Mudéjar style, mainly in the cloister, with the presence of multifoiled arches in the triforium. The spectacular incorporation of light and the structural achievements of the ambulatory vaults are some of its more remarkable aspects. It is built with white limestone from the quarries of Olihuelas, near Toledo.

Un homenaje de la ciudad de Leon a los constructores de catedrales, del escultor Juan Carlos Uriarte Paniagua del año 1998, en la Plaza de la Catedral o de la Regla,
Los que visitan la Catedral de León, se preguntan por una escultura situada casi frente a la puerta principal.
Es un homenaje a los constructores de catedrales. Un agradecimiento al trabajo de tantos y tantos que con sus obras nos han dejado un rico patrimonio en todas las ciudades
En el podemos ver unos moldes de la palma de la mano, donde todos los visitantes, a falta de tradición alguna (por la falta de historia del monumento) suelen colocar sus manos. Unos rezan, otros piden algún deseo, pero siempre con la mano en el "molde" que mejor le va a su mano.
Quiso el artista, Juan Carlos Uriarte, que vidrieros, canteros, herreros y otros oficiales tuvieran su reconocimiento en la plaza de la Catedral. La escultura se eleva sobre una base laberíntica, propia de los rincones de algunas catedrales francesas. Toda la obra alude a detalles de la Pulchra Leonina destacando la silueta que representa a Nicolás Francés, autor del retablo gótico de la catedral leonesa.
Por la parte delantera (inferior) y por detrás hay una inscripción que nos habla acerca de la historia de la Catedral leonesa, por lo cual, no solo debemos ver el monumento por delante, sino darnos una vuelta por su parte de atrás.

Las Setas de Sevilla, también conocido como proyecto Metropol Parasol del arquitecto Jürgen Mayer, constituye la estructura de madera más grande del mundo y su construcción se llevó a cabo con el objetivo de renovar la Plaza de la Encarnación de la ciudad de Sevilla, en la comunidad autónoma de Andalucía (España).
El monumento, gestionado por la constructora Sacyr, contiene CINCO niveles, en cada uno de los cuales se alberga una estancia. En el primer nivel se encuentra el Antiquarium o Museo Arqueológico, la Tienda Oficial Setas de Sevilla, un Punto de Información Turística de la ciudad junto a Past View y el acceso a los ascensores; en el segundo nivel encontramos el mercado y los locales de restauración; en el tercero, una plaza elevada para disfrute de la ciudadanía; en el cuarto nivel encontramos el arranque de la visita a las pasarelas, así como un pequeño bar y una zona de eventos de 500 metros cuadrados, y por último, en el quinto nivel, encontramos el Mirador a 28.5 metros de altura.
Las obras comenzaron el 6 de marzo de 2006, y, fueron inauguradas en tres fases: el 19 de diciembre de 2010 se inauguró el mercado, el 28 de marzo de 2011 se inauguraron la Plaza Mayor y el Museo Antiquarium y, finalmente, el 6 de mayo de 2011 se inauguró el recorrido de pasarelas y Mirador.

The passage way at the South Western Cairn at Balnuaran of Clava is focused on the sky. Many chambered cairns are aligned either with the position of the Sun, Moon, or the planet Venus. The Sun and Moon alignments bring about a living calendar to any aligned chambered cairn. Such alignments are more easily recorded without the cairns. The Sun and Moon alignment seems set into the stone structures for the use of the cairns beyond clocks and calendars to generate the identity of the structure in the design. These impressive monumental communal structures were open and visited by their constructors for several hundreds of years. Later they were filled in possibly when a new way of worship and reverence was found and so the old sacred sites were closed. The cairns in their large size seem set to hold great importance for many people and yet their small passages and chambers are only available for either small groups, or individuals. The light from the Solstice Sun gives a direct beam along the passage and into the chamber at the day chosen with the Summer longest day and Winter shortest day having positions on the horizon at dawn and at sunset available for the builders to set their structure around. Those that took part in interior ceremony could be experiencing a rite of passage and from their inner seclusion they could be greeted by the Sun entering in at a significant moment and then by all that were gathered around the large monuments as the adorants came back to the community after their isolation.
I remember from a few decades ago the stones at the rear of the chamber being brought to life by the Sun when it shone straight along the passage. This light dancing on a stone with either quartz, or granite in could be the first light for the adorant to see after days of fasting, maybe of eating ceremonial food and of intense meditation so that the light in the stone shone to show life in the bone of the land the stone that would be the collection place for the cleaned bones of the dead as markers of belonging and signs of knowing all returning to the glowering Sun, to the finding of the murmuring of the Moon and to the awakening to the stellar shimmering the stars.
The highlighted section of the chamber could be the projection screen of the tomb. After a period of darkness in the chamber the light returning through projection focused along the passage would dance on the projection screen stones and with a tone from the human voice the dust in the passage could be seen to move in and out of waves and lozenge shapes forming transient structures in the moving dust and light. The light held such delicate structures possible only for a short while along the alignment at either dawn, or sunset and the shapes would slow and cease as the light source moved away from the direct alignment in matter of minutes. These waves and lozenge shapes are were carved into the stones of some chambered cairns leaving a record in the stone on the bone of the land a presentation hammered into the stone that was home to the ancestors and the shaping of the returning regenerating medium that as it wore down gave vital nutrients to the next new growth that through roots and shoots, seeds and flowers would break down the stones into sparkling sands and grits echoing the steady progressions and predictable processions of the lights of the camp fires shining out with hope and potential in the sky above.

El muro del convento deja a la vista varias piedras de molino insertadas en el mismo, los constructores del siglo XVI adosaron las ruedas de molino a las fachadas de las casas señoriales del centro de Sevilla para evitar el desgaste que producía el constante tráfico de carruajes, que con sus guardaejes iban limando los muros a fuerza del incesante roce.
The wall of the convent reveals several millstones inserted in it, the 16th century builders attached the mill wheels to the facades of the stately homes in the center of Seville to avoid the wear caused by the constant traffic of carriages, that with their axle guards they were filing the walls by force of the incessant friction.
