“Keep a notebook. Travel with it, eat with it, sleep with it. Slap into it every stray thought that flutters up in your brain. Cheap paper is less perishable than gray matter, and lead pencil markings endure longer than memory.” -Jack London
The pages inside this journal are as pretty as the cover. They’re colorful and spark joy!

I've been living with Rough Collies since 1975.
The Bird Store where I buy most of my "bird supplies" is switching over to a new brand of seedlogs. I purchased a few and put one out that has mealworms, hoping the birds will like the new ones as much as the old ones.
Aside from the huge Crows who constantly show up, I was tickled to see this juvenile Red Belly Woodpecker show up.
I had to put a cover over the top of the seedlog to deter the crows which seems to have worked. But, there may not be many seedlog shots in the near future because the cover also gets in the way when trying to get photos.

I believe this is Koki Beach Park near Hana on the island of Maui in Hawaii. I like the evidence of the constant surf breaking over the lava shore.

My sunshine, shadow, confidant and one constant. My feline soulmate.
He tenderly nestled himself close against my heart, kitty-kissing me goodnight while we both fell into a blissful night’s slumber. The following morning I could still feel him softly snuggled within the confines of my embrace. Upon wakening he’d lovingly gaze into my eyes as he’d proceeded to pepper me with sandpaper kitty-kisses to begin our days.
For nearly 17-1/2 years these precious rituals we’ve shared were everything to me. Ever since he left me behind six months ago today, I haven’t slept well. It’s just not the same even if I lull myself to sleep envisioning him still cradled within my arms kitty-kissing me goodnight or good morning.
My beloved Kieran, I’ll miss your eyes lovingly gazing deep into my soul followed by your obsessive kitty-kisses. I’ve never known a love like ours that I’ll forever hold dear to my heart. #LongRestTheKing

Shooting through the crowd gets you a nice and special wrap in your pictures. I like this technique and I constantly use it. Here it's an example of a wedding session happening in Santorini and that caught my eye.
Thank you all for your appreciation.

I'm constantly here at this park as you could see through my photostream and it is so nice to see something different and positive at the same time!
Looks like someone was busy Sunday evening when these sculptures were discovered Monday morning on the Humber river near the Old Mill. Everyone was scambling to find out who did it when the artist uncovered his identity by revealing himself to the Star.
"It was a real thrill to see it in the paper," Riedel told the Toronto Star. "It was a nice way to wake up with a coffee."
Riedel started balancing rocks a few years ago when he saw a man doing it in Vancouver's English Bay "I find it a really nice way to relax and get a bit of a workout at the same time," he said.
I think he meant to say, "Creating sculptures at dusk is the only way to alleviate the throbbing pain of losing my one true love."
It's amazing how some of these can stand upward the way they do. Lets hope this stays on the river for a long time! We need more Peter Riedels in this world! A true passionate artist!

Brambling / fringilla montifringilla. Minsmere, Suffolk. 16/10/15.
One of three Bramblings that had recently arrived at Minsmere.
This was the second day I spent trying to make images of them. Sadly the light was abysmal and there was almost constant drizzle.
The previous day the Bramblings had been excessively nervous and flighty but on this visit one of the females was braver.
The almost constant rain (since November!) has finally stopped and we had our very first snowfall of the season last night. Muffet (who hates anything to do with the outdoors) prefers the snow over the mud (its not so ikky) but it is cold and I couldn't convince her that the scarf would make standing outside in the snow a little more enjoyable.
without my camera
and without you.
sorry I haven't been around!! it's a very stressful time as i am hunting for a summer internship through my campus's recruiting. i am constantly anxious and uneasy and restless. and not having a camera doesn't help!

Both parents were constantly bringing in new food. Since only three chicks were visible, they were probably the three that hatched first and that I photographed on 26 April. From the remaining two eggs, which were still incubated during our last visit, apparently no other chicks hatched.
This medium speed film lives up to the description of excellent tonal range and good sharpness and grain! While I'm still unsure of 200 speed films, this one with a bit of overexposure certainly works well!

This Fieldfare was one of a flock I found the other week at RSPB Saltholme. They were constantly flying from one tree to another as people were walking past them. This one lingered for a few more seconds before flying off to join the others.
Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fav my images.
I thought there was a roost of about 200 Common Terns @ Snettisham this morning. Many were juvenile's, & were quite flighty constantly take off & flying a circuit of the pool
... is the state you have to be in when you have a very nosey cat.
Of course cats are curious creatures but Taz is a particularly nosey cat meaning you have to be careful when cooking anything on the hob, and remember to leave the pot on the ring after to prevent her burning herself when it is still hot.
these rather drab little guys are in constant motion and look rather dapper and perky despite their understated coloring
Fallow Deer
Fallow Deer – Dama dama..A medium-sized deer, similar to sika (intermediate between roe and red deer). Typically has a spotted coat, with a longer tail than other deer, constantly twitching. There is a white “target” with black margins, and a black stripe down the tail. Males have palmate antlers. However, fallow deer are very variable in colour; some are white, others very dark brown (conventionally called “black fallow”), and a variety known as Menil, spotted but with the edges to the rump patch and tail stripe brown, rather than black.
An amazing sunset on Mt Hood - Jan 9, 2022. It's been a long time since the mountain has been visible due to near-constant rain. It was great to see it tonight.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Captured amid the constant stream of people leaving Central Station and the constant stream of heavy rain showers. Enjoy!
The difference even a few minutes can make.
This was shot on the same evening as the other one I posted yesterday. This one was shot with a different, faster lens that was a different brand.
This was shot at f.2.8 at 24mm and a shutter speed of 10 seconds from a sturdy tripod.
There are a number of factors to keep in mind when shooting the Milky Way. One is that shutter speed really matters. It is dark, so the photographer needs to keep the shutter open longer to let in more light. But if it is open too long then you get star streaks because the earth is constantly moving.
Tripod sturdiness is also a factor. With a long exposure like this, any vibration at all can mess up the image. It was slightly windy and I had to block the wind with my body. It was more successful at some times than others.
The wider aperture let in more light and I found that it also has more of the fainter stars. There was also some not really fog but a bit of a haze that seemed to come and go.
Finally, the camera's dynamic range - -the range from pure white to pure black -- isn't as wide as the human eye. How much so varies between cameras, and newer ones tend to have more range. This means the initial image taken will not look like what the eye saw. The photographer can choose to use JPG settings in which the camera tries to adjust the image. Or, the photographer can shoot in RAW and make the adjustments manually.
Black Cat: "Do your job well until I can see myself reflected in the pot..."
TOMIE: "Or what? Introduce yourself first before you give me instructions, Pussy!"
Black Cat: "How rude! My name is Bajun when I show my true form - but then you would be very tiny. Like a flea..."
TOMIE: "You are the companion of Baba Jaga?"
BAJUN: "Yes and no! My place is usually on an island, but I often wander around here and make sure that work is done carefully. I still can not see myself reflected. Wait a minute, I smell a bear that has no business here... Just you wait!"
TOMIE: [thinks] "Oh no! Not Bruno! He will have smelled the food for the witch from before... Oh if only his friends could stop him. Sigh!"
