To support the conservation of the 15th-century citadel Qala Ikhtyaruddin in Herat, a prominent public landmark of this ancient city and one of the most impressive surviving citadels in all of Central Asia. More than 20 years of war and neglect have taken their toll on this venerable structure. This project involves major masonry and structural repairs to the walls, ramparts, and buildings within the citadel's lower enclosure.
