In the midst of an uncertain regional trade climate, more than 380 industry leaders and exhibitors from across the supply chain traveled from Mexico, U.S., Canada, Costa Rica, and Spain to gather in León, Mexico, for Fresh Connections: Mexico 2017. At the top of most every attendee’s mind: How U.S. trade and immigration policy currently affects our industry—and what the future may hold.
Youths of today have forgotten the connection that they have with their family. In this picture, you can see that everyone is watching TV and my cousin alone is watching his iPod. This generation of kids are engrossed into technology so much that they have prioritized their electronics before their family and family events.

I thought my Arduino board was broken. (Look at the note above.) But it turns out that it's normal for that connection to not be there. How do I know? I looked at Flickr photos of other people's Arduino boards.
The Utah State Office of Education Title VII Program in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Red Butte Garden, the Urban Indian Center and the Utah Natural History Museum hosted the second annual of the Earth Connections Camp, American Indian Nature Camp on June 18.
The camp’s goal is to reconnect urban American Indian youth with their natural world and cultural heritage, organizers said.
The 30 campers, divided into two groups, spent the day at Red Butte Garden learning about American Indian traditions, history, arts and craft, storytelling and nutrition.
American Indian educators and specialists from the various partners led each of the learning stations.
Juan Palma, BLM Utah state director, was the keynote speaker. He shared his story of growing up in a family of migrant workers and the difference education made in his life.
Other activities during the day-long camp included building solar toys and constructing dams with the assistance of Bureau of Reclamation staff.
“I was so impressed with the instructors, volunteers, and especially the campers,” said Jeanette Shackelford, BLM Utah State Youth Program Lead. “The kids were respectful and attentive, and I personally learned a lot from listening to the different sessions.”
Organizers hope to continue to collaborate and expand the day-camp to have more students attend.

Connections this week - Found connections and lost connections. Why is it that lost connections occupy so much head space. Other people's choices are theirs to own. Why is it so hard for me to accept lost connections for what they are? Why do I make this more than it is or take it personally. Sometimes it is not about me - but why does it feel so bad none the less? Why do I keep on taking it as a personal reflection of my worth. Sometimes it's nothing to do with me and it is wholly about them and their own lives.
Why do I always think it is my lacks rather than something else entirely? Another way to torture myself and point to my own lack of self-worth and personal values.
This was meant to be about the good connections of this week and there were plenty of them too. But I really need to let go of their stuff.

I never came close to making a living at it, but I worked pretty hard at a part-time freelance gig for about 7-8 years. This is one of the first photo spreads I got published, a shot of an open house at a grocery store that turned out to have a lot more photographic potential than I would have guessed before I took the lens cap off.
