The last in this series of skyline photos dedicated to the Chicago Cubs and their win of the World Series.
It has been a crazy day in the city as 5 million people came in for today's parade to celebrate the team's victory on Wednesday over the Cleveland Indians - what a series of games!
The wind was relatively still this evening making for a great reflection and hopefully doubling as a foreshadowing of a calm weekend ahead - the city has been on edge quite a bit with the whole baseball series.
Enjoy!
May you all live happily together ilsebatten :)

One of my all time favorites and I didn't even know she had a new album out much less had won a grammy. I've seen her twice live, many years ago. Once in a small club, the show happened to be on her birthday and the crowd sang "Happy Birthday" for her. The other time was in a larger auditorium, my main memory from that show was her dad coming on stage and they sang "Oklahoma" together. I found 9 lp's and 11 cd's in my collection, soon to be one more.

I couldn't find "Oklahoma" but here is another one with her dad: youtu.be/pmyBA2xPN4g

Erui and Requia are discussing what to focus on the celebration, the 1/4th of the road towards the 1000 subscribers or my birthday. Aigara's hoping they will settle it soon, the cake is heavy... =P
Sorry for being absent for so long, dears. I had everything planned to posting every two weeks like I was trying to do for a while now, so the exams wouldn't bother for that... But unfortunately the hard exams weren't the worst of my problems. The sudden and tragic death of my uncle shook my family with a lot of force, and the past weeks have been a lot of pain and effort to get everything to roll again, as he was a strong pillar of the family, taking care of my grandparents and half of the family business. Aside that, I really loved him, he cared a lot of me and my sisters. I will truly miss him and our dinners out in our favourite chenese restaurant... Damn, it has been a month since then and even now my eyes start to get humid only by writing this.
But these things happen. They are hard and painful, but are part of life itself, and they allow us to treasure the happy moments better. So I'm doing that! I'll promise to never his smile and with it on my mind I'll keep moving foward, to live a life I'll be proud to look back at the moment of its finale. To the ones going through similar experience, I know my words aren't the best, but I hope the idea will encourage you to recover the smile this events tend to snatch us.
Well, I just wanted to explain my lack of activity and I ended entering into a very delicate matter. Sorry there, it's hard to just drop a "someone very close to me died" and keep moving into another subject. ^^" Anyways. this post is to celebrate! My birthday is today and, while I'm probably spending the day working on my final assignment of the career (I already finished the exams and I'll be graduating soon, so another reason to celebrate! =D) and I probably won't get any presents today, I'm really happy to this day to have arrived. Dunno why =P Also, I'm so glad to announce that 254 people are following me! Probably most of those accounts are abandoned or don't care that much about my uploads now, but even discounting those I still have a lot of people interested on my works and being so supportive towards to my quite reiterative creations =P And I couldn't be happier than that. After all, it would be a lie to say that I didn't want to be famous, but it was never my intention. I just wanted to make friends and share my creations and ideas. And I got the three! =D It has been 7 years since I posted my first MOC, Lianyu, on Youtube and MOCpages. It has been a really enjoyable ride, and I can't wait to see how it will continue! <3
Love you SO much, dears. I'm so glad I can enjoy sharing my creations with all of you and you actually enjoy them too; so glad I can check other wonderful and inspiring creations, so glad I can make friends with all of you! Even if someday I'm suddenly gone (don't kill me already, I'm talking about many reasons in general), don't ever doubt I will treasure the support of love I got in this community. Until then, I'll do my best to deliver my own love!
Thank you very much, dears. <3
All-loving and smiling,

Success does not come to those who wait and it does not wait for anyone to come to it... it's a journey, not a destination.

C-FVNB, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, on approach to runway 06R at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, Ontario.
It was arriving as ACA112 (Air Canada) from Vancouver, British Columbia.
The tail carried the names of Air Canada's 2024 Employee Excellence Awards recipients.
I did not vote for him, but he won the election fair and square; and this Republican, for one, accepts the election results and wishes him well. He now becomes my President, too, and as such, I will support him when I believe he deserves it, and criticize him when I feel he deserves that. Which, of course, is what our American democracy is all about. We are a vast, complex, and often quarrelsome family, but we have always managed to pull together when we have really needed to do so; and in that spirit, I -- while "biting good Republican nails," in the words of William Allen White -- propose a (non-alcoholic) toast in honor of our new President -- and of ourselves, for that matter.
Say what you will about Barack Obama, but his election says much about how far we have come as a country just during my lifetime. Obama is the first U. S. President born after I was, and I am old enough to remember enforced segregation, the lunch-counter sit-ins, the firehoses and police dogs in Birmingham, the marchers crossing the Edmund Pettis Bridge at Selma, and Martin Luther King at the Lincoln Memorial, enrapturing the assembled thousands with Biblical eloquence as he proclaimed his Dream. Just a couple of weeks ago, I told my 14-year-old daughter about the time President John F. Kennedy had to send troops and U. S. marshals to enforce a court order requiring the University of Mississippi to admit James Meredith, an Air Force veteran and clearly qualified applicant who happened to be black. Vanessa, who herself is a member of a racial minority -- she is Samoan -- found the necessity of such an action difficult to comprehend. And although I was not yet born when this happened, it is worth noting that barely 100 years ago, President Theodore Roosevelt provoked widespread outrage by daring to invite Booker T. Washington to the White House as his guest.
Obama is, in addition, the son of an immigrant -- from Kenya, no less -- and to his credit, he acknowledges that his remarkable story would have been impossible anywhere else but in America. In his own unique way, Barack Obama has both embodied and reaffirmed the American Dream. Although I am sure he is shaking his head over some of Obama's ideas and plans, I am just as sure that today, even Ronald Reagan is smiling -- and probably noting also that the only other time the Philadelphia Phillies won the World Series was in 1980, also a sea-change year, when he himself was elected President. (For the record, I am a baseball fan and have a strong sense of history, and I think the moment when I really knew Obama was going to win was when the Phillies took it all in '08!)
The burdens, as well as the glory, of the Presidency will descend soon enough upon Barack Obama, but that is something to discuss at another time. Today we can and should celebrate this defining moment in the American experiment, and in doing so, I join with my friends on Flickr and elsewhere -- Americans all -- who voted for him, as well as with those abroad who could not vote, but who nevertheless followed this year's U. S. Presidential election with unusual excitement and interest.
