That’s what it feels like when confronting my computer troubles.
Seems my 6-year-old laptop isn’t up to the challenge presented by the installation of windows 11 and “updating” my Lightroom Classic and Photoshop apps to the latest release.
My “dream” photo-editing workflow has turned into a nightmare of program crashes and hours of online searching for a survival guide.
So, I’ve done the adult thing and ordered a proper desktop, one whose GPU doesn’t wheeze like a chain-smoking asthmatic climbing stairs. In the meantime, here is a photo I managed to hack out of my struggling Laptop.

The Egyptian Goose:
This striking Goose is native to Africa, mainly the eastern and southern parts of the continent; it has also been introduced widely across Europe and parts of the US. Note the staring pale eye surrounded by a dark patch, pink legs, and overall gray and buffy plumage. In flight, look for bright white forewings. Usually found in pairs or family groups. Feeds while swimming and by grazing on shore.
Despite its name, this bird is more like a large duck than a typical goose. It rests on the ground more than in the water, and it also perches on—and even nests in—trees. A highly adaptable species, Egyptian Goose is very successful in its native Africa, where it sometimes causes damage to crops. Introduced populations have become established in Europe and North America.

For me, it's the tree that gives this landscape shot perspective. Everything in this environment is larger than life, while the colours are both rich and confronting.
Here is an extract from my Journal of September 10th:
"At Kulala Camp, the manager greeted me, took me through an induction and showed me to a room with impossibly steep steps up to my “tent”. He saw my problem with the steps and said he’d find me a better room. While he did this, Ruby (my guide) took me on my first official game drive. On this drive we saw very few animals, Ruby was more interested to tell me about the geological history of the landscape. We stopped, she gathered up rocks and gave me the most comprehensive geology lesson of my life. We were indeed in an ancient landscape dating back to the dawn of time on Earth.
Ruby drove to a rise on the side of a vast hill of giant rocks where she laid out drinks and nibbles while we watched the sun set accompanied by the sounds of Barking Geckos calling to each other. We each had plenty to share and tell the other, and Ruby was uncommonly impressed at my having three cameras. Ruby was not only a tour guide and geologist, she was also a budding photographer who wanted to hone her skills on my cameras. It soon became evident that she knew nothing about composition, had no idea of focus but she had a keen admiration for my zoom lens.
She asked what activities might interest me, especially as a Swiss couple were taking a hot air balloon ride the next morning. I said I’d like to do the same, or take one of four sight seeing flights that were available. Ruby said it was too late to organize flights for the next day, and besides, she would take me to Sousousvlei tomorrow morning. She would get details and costs of the flight options for me during dinner.
That evening all the guests, except four who chose not to mingle, were seated together at a long table in the outside dining area. I was seated between a Swiss woman and an American man, with an English woman named Clair opposite. Clair and I were solo travellers and we hit it off from the moment we met. Such a beautiful intelligent and well travelled woman with a marvellous sense of adventure; we were destined to be great friends.
For me it was an early night, I had lost 8 hours on my flight from Australia. Ruby wanted me fed and watered for a 7 o’clock start the next morning. As promised, Ruby had details of the flight options, all prices were for two, regardless of one person flying. I would also have to pay Ruby’s wages for the day because she would have to take me to the airfield and wait there for me to return. I said I’d think about it overnight."

(Bloomberg) -- Warren Buffett, whose economic insights are craved for Berkshire Hathaway Inc.’s deep ties to the American economy, had a gloomy prediction for his own businesses: the good times may be over.
“The majority of our businesses will report lower earnings this year than last year,” Buffett, 92, said, before crowds of thousands at the event on Saturday. During the last six months or so, the “incredible period” for the US economy has been coming to an end, he said.
"You confront me."
"I thought you wanted me to. I mean I thought I was doing what you wanted me to. You... you know and... and... and we don't even have to. My cab is ready. I can just leave and we can always meet later. Just, just call. OK? I'm staying with Phil. You have his number, don't you? You do. You do. Call and we'll meet... where... wherever... you want. It's really all up to you. That might even be better. Anything. I... I... I don't know. I... I... I don't, I don't mind really. Whatever. I mean you call and let me know. I'll stay with Phil a few days. I'll let you know... where... where I'd go after. You want me to. Right? I mean I know, I know you want that. That's what we need. That's what we should do. Hey, what do you say? Huh? Isn't that better? I thought we'd go out for lunch today but that's all right. You stay in. Do whatever and we'll meet again. Just call, just..."
"You confront me not I. That's why it disturbs. It's just that."
He put the package down. First, he looked around the room and considered the console. It was a bit far. He had to walk all the length of the room. Coffee table was busy. That coffee table never had any room for anything. He could just leave it there where he was on the floor. He could do that. Why can't he just put it on the floor? Just there, right where he's standing, beside his feet. He could do that.
"I confront you... I... I..."
"You confront me... me.... You confront 'me'.... Me not I. You confront me. That's why it disturbs. You confront me not I."
Having been confronted head on by the dominant male this stag deferred and led the herd of young male and female deer up the hill. In his own time the dominant male left the clearing where they had been browsing and grazing to bring up the rear. With an occasioonal backward glance they were soon all out of sight.

Karen Assayag's work includes an assemblage of creations produced by women themselves.
Photographs taken with a disposable camera that show what they want to share about their daily life outside the day center and on the other, individual portraits during sessions for two, in a privileged time.
This is how, after printing, these photographs are commented on and painted in a collective spirit: eyes meet, confront each other, but above all, this collaboration establishes a benevolent dialogue between each other.
Another way of seeing things by a gifted artist who demonstrates originality ! 😉

Thanks to everyone who has visited. I realise a confronting photo for some people.
I appreciate very much the kind comments and faves which have been left.
A huntsman spider, aka "Boris", probably Heteropoda jugulans. The same spider as in the next photo.
The spider was on a variegated bromeliad leaf in my garden. Huntsman spiders can also be found indoors.
Male and female huntsman spiders are similar in size with the males having longer legs. Actually, I am not sure whether this is a male or female. Unlike many spiders, the males do not risk being eaten after mating. Some species of huntsman spiders live in colonies.
Macrophotography has made me appreciate what a diverse and fascinating group of animals that spiders are.

A huntsman spider, probably Heteropoda jugulans. Male and female huntsman spiders are similar in size with the males having longer legs and females slightly bigger bodies. Actually, I am not sure whether this is a male or female. Unlike many spiders, the males do not risk being eaten after mating. Some species of huntsman spiders live in colonies. Normally, huntsman spiders are nocturnal. However, this spider was out in the afternoon. It has eight eyes. The upper four appear closed. Perhaps it was squinting because of the bright light.
For the Macro Mondays theme "Inspired by a Song". The song I chose is "Boris the Spider" by the Who. Perhaps a slightly larger spider than the Who had in mind but definitely a little creepy. The spider was on a variegated bromeliad leaf in my garden and was left undisturbed after being photographed. Huntsman spiders can also be found indoors.

Boris the Spider by The Who
Look, he's crawling up my wall
Black and hairy, very small
Now he's up above my head
Hanging by a little thread
Boris the spider
Boris the spider
Now he's dropped on to the floor
Heading for the bedroom door
Maybe he's as scared as me
Where's he gone now, I can't see
Boris the spider
Boris the spider
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
There he is wrapped in a ball
Doesn't seem to move at all
Perhaps he's dead, I'll just make sure
Pick this book up off the floor
Boris the spider
Boris the spider
Creepy, crawly
Creepy,…

Confronted again by old nemesis, the wind. It was a dark, dark night with the lighthouse beams only darkening the almost-pitch black area.
On a previous visit I had slipped in some mud and messed up my hand, thereby ending the evening. I was a little more careful this time, although the gusts of wind threatened to push me off the cliffs a number of times.
Heading back to the car, now completely windswept, we noticed that the previously empty car park had another car in it. Not the doggers again! Seems like everywhere I go there are mysterious cars just waiting... watching...

Nella penombra tu sei la luce
.
Trattenerti non posso come vorrei in questo
abbraccio

In the twilight you are the light
.
I can't hold you as I would like in this
hug
I close my eyes
I let myself be cradled
from the beat of your heart
I get lost in your sweetness
keep your headlights open my daughter i will be here at yours
side in the dark.
I will let you travel in the light
you are the brightest star. On the journey of life i
steps will lead you away from this embrace.
but nothing will keep us apart
I will still feel your smell of good left
tattooed on my heart baby
hugged to yours.

I let out my blind dog Cinnamon and was standing around the corner of the house from her. I heard her barking. Thinking she was barking at the neighbors, I went to tell her to stop and met this fellow. She was confronting him as he ate my oak leaf hydrangea bushes.

Lying, dishonesty and political manipulation are nothing new. In the age of digital mass communication, however, these machinations have become endemic. The war in Ukraine is also a war of mis/information and this war is going on daily across all our media. Some of us may feel helpless when it comes to separating truth from falsehood. But we are not that helpless. Whenever we are confronted with a political message, we can ask one basic question: who is talking and what question is being asked (and, usually) answered? This will help to detect the “agenda” of the message, identify its argument and understand the claim that has been made. If we wish to go deeper into the analysis, we can try to identify also the underlying assumptions of the message, check the evidence that has been quoted and see whether or not the message makes sense. We are not that helpless. We can be skeptical and make distinctions. We can reject what is false and keep what is true.

Very territorial little Lizard. He spotted me a long way off and ran to confront me. Immediately challenge me to a contest of pushups. He did about 45 or more in just a few seconds. I said "Okay Pal, you win. No contest." Feeling superior now, he hopped up on a rock about 6 feet away, and proceeded to challenge me once again, but this time did about 75, and waited for a response. I straightaway turned and walked away, in absolute defeat.
----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------
SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)
16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)
1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️
