Ta Prohm (pronunciation: prasat taprohm) is the modern name of the temple at Angkor, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, built in the Bayon style largely in the late 12th and early 13th centuries and originally called Rajavihara (in Khmer: រាជវិហារ). Located approximately one kilometre east of Angkor Thom and on the southern edge of the East Baray, it was founded by the Khmer King Jayavarman VII:125]:388 as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university.
Unlike most Angkorian temples, Ta Prohm is in much the same condition in which it was found: the photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have made it one of Angkor's most popular temples with visitors. UNESCO inscribed Ta Prohm on the World Heritage List in 1992. Today, it is one of the most visited complexes in Cambodia’s Angkor region. The conservation and restoration of Ta Prohm is a partnership project of the Archaeological Survey of India and the APSARA (Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap).
Yes, you’ve seen it once before from a different angle. This fall, it’s in a little worse condition. The holes are bigger, the roof sags a little more. How many more autumns does it have? I’ll keep you posted....
Due to my health condition, I am unable to hold or stabilize a camera for extended periods of time. Additionally, using a tripod has never been enjoyable for me, as it would cause pain when trying to position it correctly and constantly bending over to check the viewfinder. Consequently, I have chosen to explore digital AI artwork as an alternative. I understand that this may not be everyone's cup of tea, as it diverges from traditional photography. However, I have always granted myself the freedom to exercise artistic license and pursue whatever brings me joy. Currently, digital AI artwork fulfills that purpose, at least for the time being.

I already said goodbye.
Two weeks ago my Father passed away from dementia, today was his funeral, I chose to not attend, as we have been estranged for 32 years. Myself and my siblings had a very traumatic childhood because of this man, he was abusive to us all, including my Mum, and we were shown very little love from both parents due to the way he had conditioned her. We spent a large part of our childhood visiting my Mum in a mental hospital, and my older brother pretty much brought us up. I walked away from my Father when my Mum finally divorced him when I was 18. Trying to be a part of his life was too painful, he didn’t seem to care about us. To others he was a wonderful man and would do anything for anyone, but never his own family, a wife and 5 children. I grew up being told I was thick, which did nothing for my self esteem and affected my adult life hugely.
I have been in two minds as to whether to post about this on here for the last two weeks, I am not grieving him, I am grieving for my lost childhood. I have set this to disable the comments, as I am just putting this here so I have a record of it on my blog, and need to move on from this after today, and I don’t want anyone to feel sorry as I am ok, just a very surreal time, and the end of an era, after losing my Mum to cancer in November 2020.
Today we went to Butterfly world as a distraction, and also because it was too cold and wet to shoot outdoors. We had a lovely day.
The crocuses were taken in our garden a few days ago during the cold snap. They survived the storm, and they continue to bloom. ❤️
Much love to you all, dear Flickr friends.

A shiny stringed instrument washes ashore in near-perfect condition. It's getting harder to find shanties with electricity, gotta do some scrounging, and find a place to plug this thing in.

DESCRIPTION:
When we take a picture during a sunset , usually we are attracted by the bright colors we see in the west and rarely point the camera in the opposite direction, towards the east. Yet, if the condition are favorable (clear and transparent sky ) the show we would see would be just as beautiful. This photo, taken by Acireale, a city of Sicily located on a hill overlooking the Ionian Sea , wants to be a testimony. The color element that dominates and characterizes it is the pink band extended for about 20 degrees above the horizon, known as “ the belt of Venus”.
The belt of Venus is an atmospheric phenomenon due to backscattering of the red sunlight at sunset by the particles of the atmosphere that are on the opposite side of the sun.
Near the horizon, due to the shadow projected by the Earth, the belt progressively decreases in brightness and color until it disappears completely.
The phenomenon lasts a few minutes and is visible even at down, just before sunrise.
On their return trip north the Marshalltown-based crew heads across a county road north of Searsboro. North Western's GP38-2s were originally ordered by Rock Island RR, but due to its financial condition, Rock Island was not able to accept delivery and they went to C&NW instead, a total of 35 units.

if not circular
is supposed to serve
a particular aim.
But what,
if a stand still
under the circumstances
is the optimal

It's always exciting to visit places again and again, even in different seasons and years. These two old mills and the gorge have been with me since I was a child. Even decades later, this gorge is still as mysterious and magical as ever. The mills are still in good condition, except for the wooden mill wheel, which is slowly falling into disrepair due to the ravages of time.

On May 12 it's ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day.
May 12 was chosen as it coincided with the birth date of Florence Nightingale, Nightingale suffered a M.E.-like illness that often left her bedridden during the last 50 years of her life.
To support anyone suffering from this or any other illness or condition is this week's theme "Blue for you - me".
This is my contribution taken on May 12th, also my father's birthday. Have a good day in heaven dad!
Thanks for your views, faves and comments. Wish you all the best with 💙 love 💙 and HSoS, Angeline.
With the air conditioning on full blast on this sweltering June, 2002 afternoon, a former Conrail C39-8 leads NS 19K through Claypool, IN, on the Marion Branch. This scene looks quite different today, with the grain elevator gone, several less-used crossings removed, and a new connection track between the former NKP and the Marion Branch where the elevator once stood.

The rock hyrax (Procavia capensis), also called rock badger and Cape hyrax, is commonly referred to in South African English as the dassie. It is one of the four living species of the order Hyracoidea, and the only living species in the genus Procavia. Like all hyraxes, it is a medium-sized (~4 kg) terrestrial mammal, with short ears and tail.
The closest living relatives to hyraxes are the modern-day elephants and sirenians. The rock hyrax is found across Africa and the Middle East in habitats with rock crevices into which it escapes from predators. Hyraxes typically live in groups of 10–80 animals, and forage as a group. They have been reported to use sentries: one or more animals take up position on a vantage point and issue alarm calls on the approach of predators.
The rock hyrax has incomplete thermoregulation and is most active in the morning and evening, although its activity pattern varies substantially with season and climate. Adults make use of at least 21 different vocal signals. The most familiar signal is a high trill, given in response to perceived danger. Rock hyrax calls can provide important biological information such as size, age, social status, body weight, condition, and hormonal state of the caller, as determined by measuring their call length, patterns, complexity, and frequency.

Before knowing the weather condition of the Himalayan region we should understand its geography. The Himalayan region covers an area of 2,250 km with an average width of 200 km.
The forest belt of the Himalayan region consists of Oak, Rhododendron, Birch, Pine, Deodar, and Fir. And the monsoon season in this region lasts for mid June till the end of September. The Himalayas influences the meteorological conditions in the Indian subcontinent to the south and in the Central Asian highlands to the north to a great extent. It acts a climatic divider circulating the air and water system to a great extent. Because of its altitude and location it blocks the passage of the cold winds coming from the north to the Indian sub continent thereby making India's climate much more moderate. It also influences the rainfall pattern in India. The combined effect of rainfall, latitude and altitude largely influences the forests belts in the Himalayan region. The rainfall is mostly recorded during the monsoon time of June to September but it decreases as you travel from east to west. The snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas stretch 2, 250 km from the Namcha Barwa to Nanga Parbat on the Indus. The range extends from east to west up to central-Nepal and then takes a southeast to northwest direction.

Taken in very dark conditions with the RF800mm lens which isn't renowned for its low light performance.
This is a very light variant and looked to be in good condition. There was another SEO sat on the adjacent post and this one dive bombed it, chasing it away before calmly circling round and alighting on the next post. Wonderful to see - although I sadly missed a shot of the action.
