This Great Blue Heron was focused on a potential meal when I spotted it near the boardwalk at Huntley Meadows Park. Best viewed LARGE.
Short Eared Owl hunting for voles.
Luckily for us, they do hunt regularly in daylight and have amazing day vision including fast reacting independently controllable iris's to instantly adjust for light levels on each side of their 'face' as they are flying around.
They do also hunt at night of course - where their vision is 5 - 10 times better than a human's due to the amount of receptor rods.
Their hearing is pretty good too.
