Bluetit nibbling on a piece of peanut in my garden. Clever the way it holds the peanut with both feet to stop it slipping on the branch.

Big Red on the hunt....

Little Grassbird (Megalurus gramineus)

More often heard than seen this one was most obliging.

Large, long-legged bird shaped much like a heron. Gray body, sometimes with intense rusty staining. Adults have red crown. Often in large flocks at migration and wintering concentration points. Favors marshes and agricultural fields where they eat primarily grains. In flight, neck is outstretched, unlike herons with tucked necks. Snappy wingbeats. Listen for far-carrying bugling call. A surprise find for an early Spring morning. This small flock of Sandhill Cranes flew up the river on their way to their breeding territories a little further north.

From my archives. I think this is a Red-shouldered hawk since they are most common where I live. May be a young one since they do not show their red shoulders yet. Thank you for taking time from your busy day to view, fave and comment on my images. It is always appreciated.

A jungle cat having spotted a prey. The look on her face is of pure concentration. Next moment she pounced on the prey. Was very fortunate to witness this action.
