It’s a public holiday on the island of Madeira today, and everyone’s out and about. Here in the coastal village of Câmera de Lobos, groups of men at café tables are enjoying card games over their beer and coffee. This man's expression of concentration perhaps indicates his strong intention to win!

I have no idea what this young monk is making. I am guessing it is something to use in the temple but it doesn't look like incense. Maybe he is making firelighters to light the hundreds of candles that are used. If anyone knows please feel free to leave a comment.
