Like a gem kept in a safe.

A big glut of J3 photos coming your way! This was my design for a new city library and affordable homes. Now open! First batch is mostly of the Library and the great concave screen focussed on the Greek Orthodox Church on the opposite side of the road.

They pop up with clumps of dirt all over them. There is a stem, but hard to see. Actually, they could be pieces of waste paper beaten down by rain. I'd say they grow in acidic soil, as this yard has water oak and sweet gum trees.

This is Southmoore's Pasco Ray Box showing what happens when visible light bounces off a parabolic mirror. It isn't super clear, but you can see that the light coming in from the right is reflected towards a single point about halfway back to the light box. This mirror is appropriate for visible light, and thus just looks like a mirror. But it's function is the same as the parabolic reflector seen in the previous slide, which reflects radio waves. The antennas are put near the focal point, where the intensity is the strongest.

This is a very simple, but very effective diffuser I have used for a most of the images taken with the 100mm macro lens you see on my Photostream this year. I was intending to write it up but haven't got round to it. These photos describe it.
