Here is a fun fact for you to try, the makers of the movie, "The Matrix", got right. Look into the concave side of a spoon, and you will see yourself both inverted and upside down. Then turn the spoon over, and look at the convex side. You will see yourself stretched, but right side up, and proper.
Isn't science fun!

More from the interior of the Friedrichswerdersche Kirche (Friedrichswerder Church) in Berlin's historical Mitte district. This time, it's a slightly more conventional "looking up" fisheye scene.
The Friedrichswerder Church was the first church in Berlin to be built in the Neo-Gothic style. It was designed and built by Friedrich Karl Schinkel (born 1781 in Neuruppin, a small town about 60 km north of Berlin, died 1841 in Berlin), one of Germany's most renowned architects of that era. Schinkel is best known for his neoclassical and neogothic building style. He was also a city planner, painter, and historic preserver. The main body of his work is on view in Berlin.
Built between 1824 and 1831, the Friedrichswerder Church was first reconstructed from 1982 to 1987. The latest reconstruction, necessary because of nearby construction works that destabilised the building, was between 2013 and 2019, and the church reopened in 2020. It now houses a part of the Old National Gallery's (Alte Nationalgalerie) sculpture collection.
Happy Weekend, dear Flickr friends!
I love the contrasting geometry of this location in this light. This oasis is situated in a vast, mostly treeless swathe of Scottish mountain and moorland. A place where you wander forever in limbo between light and dark searching for that elusive balance.

An odd looking bee I had to check out with iNaturalist and they identified it as a Concave Longhorn-Cuckoo bee. I'm pretty sure this is a new species for my prairie bee and wasp species set. It's feeding on a Maximilian sunflower, of which we had a very good crop this year even with the ongoing drought.

This was captured during a delightful walk along the beach. The banks and large flakes of yellow-coloured foam are a natural phenomenon. These are the remains of dead algae, specifically the species ‘phaeocystis globosa’, generally called foam algae or brown slime algae. The wave action whips these remains into foam.
