Bartolomé Island is named after Sir Bartholomew James Sulivan, an English naval lieutenant who participated in Darwin's voyage on the Beagle. The island is located to the east of Santiago Island. The eastern part of the island consists of volcanic cones, while the western part is a peninsula with several rock formations, including Pinnacle Rock, a steep volcanic rock.

A light coating of snow that only partially covered the fallen leaves on the ground made for an interesting bokeh backdrop.

The village of Cartesiano above Messina in Sicily lies on a conical hill. Behind it is the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Different but same, you can see

pine cones, acorns falling from trees.

Lost in nature, all of our days.

Blessed are we and our silly ways.

Yesterday we had a Nor'easter, good thing only 6" of snow around us. In Boston, it got 2ft of snow, plus strong wind, etc. Of course, took an outing to the park near me. It's freezing tho.

Stand in a forest just now and hear the conifer cones dropping. These huge ones belong (I think) to a beautiful Mexican white pine (or possibly a relative Holford pine). More of the tree in the previous image

The Mexican white pine is native to Mexico and Central America but lives well in temperate gardens and parks.

You can live years next door to a big pine tree, honored to have so venerable a neighbor, even when it sheds needles all over your flowers or wakes you, dropping big cones onto your deck at still of night.
