Detail photo of the back of an OLD IBM 386 ( similar to this one - if my memory doesn't fail - www.cs.cuw.edu/museum/IBMPS280.html ).

Anyhow. Lovely etched copper lanes, solidly soldered silvery tin.

Space Junk ?

City on its side with a reflection sun and city ....Yes

The Information Technology Department creatively used discarded computer parts to celebrate the season (one of my coworkers said, "Oh, so that's why our computers don't work, the parts are all on the wall!").

Nano Nano Mouse

Saw these adorable little mice figurines/jewelry @ a gift shop in Mori Art Museum. They are made from used computer parts. Such a clever environmental idea!

So here's all the pieces prior to assembly. You can see the fiber optic cable has been cut to length and the arm assembly is there. The hard drive controller was crabbed and will be used as a side piece. The piece with the flat cable attached is going to be another side. You can see on the right side a modem that's been chopped up to fit around the poof tail on the back

As you can see it was *cheap* at $1, took it apart carefully, saved all the pieces. There will be some cutting with the dremel later

The word Transfer written on a green key from the keyboard

Yeah - I had a bit of a cold while I was working on this (as can be seen by the tissues liberally littered about)

Day 129. A new audio card (23.02.2013). #Project365 #photography #audiocard

Carved gourd, acrylic paint, gold leaf, computer disc drive part, Swarovski crystal.

Inspired by growth and expansion, more specifically growing out of one’s skin. Reminiscent of the texture and contrast of volcanoes and molten lava, and by a photograph I took of a black charred stump in Australia left with the delightful treasures of three cicada skins.

It looks so empty and lonely...

I created this birthday present for my wife. I wanted to make something unique and original. I had this idea to use old computer parts (I am software engineer) to make the messages that express my feelings to her through these pictures. I used about 15 old laptops and two desktops. The implementation was quite simple, I had to disassemble mostly keyboards, CPUs, fans, power supplies, connectors and cut some cables. Then I just glued it to frames to create the messages.
