This massive metal cylinder (I only captured half of it) was an air compressor used in underwater subway construction.
Who needs slow Handbrake? Here is Compressor working with Qmaster clusters (you can use multiple computers to render faster) via shell commands. Now to write a script that automatically switches MKV downloads to Apple TV/iPhone. When I tested Handbrake on the Mac Pro Nehalem it was barely getting 15% core saturation. With Compressor a full 100% core utilization is in effect... I get to see all 16 cores get seriously busy.
*** The low Handbrake core saturation was due to me ripping DVD's. From a file on the hard drive Handbrake should get around 25-60% core saturation. Unfortunately the app is quitting on me every time.

lucien is quite a character -- he shares innkeeping (cooking, cleaning) duties with his wife isabella, & does a ton of maintenance on the island, but also is a stuntman and a flamenco guitarist. they got married 11 days after they met, and will celebrate their 10th anniversary later this year.

Compressors, two inside the ruins of the old building, and two outside, at the Greenhill Mine Site in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta. These machines provided a supply of fresh air into the nearby underground coal mine.
The AK is the Canadian General Electric version of the U.S. CK.
