Just got a new 100L compressor for general use and stonemasonry airtool work. Our old "large" blue compressor looks like a lilliput by the Big Red. A surprisingly modest noise it makes, and plenty of air to blow around.

Here is the intake plenum / filter receiver installed on the compressor head. I said to hell with making a 3-dimensional gasket to seal around the edges, and I just used a bunch of Permatex gasket goop to make it somewhat air-tight. Later, I found out I used the wrong kind - it stays soft forever, so I have to go get the hardening kind and re-do it, so the goop won't get sucked into the compressor valves. That would be A Very Bad Thing.
There are two compressors in the basement which are kept on to keep the coolers cool. Pat discovered that the switches
(typical toggle switches like those commonly used as light switches) for both had been flipped to the off position on
several occasions throughout Saturday night. On the first trip down to the basement, Pat discovered the far light was on. He went to shut it off and noticed the piles of red dust directly underneath its glow.
This is a combination intake valve cover and filter port I made for an air compressor I bought. The original part was missing. I believe the original version was a complex molded plastic piece, but mine is a wee bit more durable, being made from steel and brass. My version is held in place with one of the head bolts and so must be sealed with RTV or gasket compound. The threaded bushing accepts a standard commercial compressor intake filter.

The Signa Comp (Compressor) has controls for Sustain, and Level. Footprint of a Boss or Ibanez and has a bright blue LED and True Bypass.
I came up with this Compressor and I think it has a really nice wide range of application. It is very smooth with a lot of sustain and pop. Great low end. This can do Rock, Jazz, Country, Nashville, well you get the idea, not your standard Ross clone!. I use matched transistors, and it is true Bypass.
Pedal is quiet as far as compressors go with hardly any noise. The Signa Comp is also available in a 4 Knob version that adds Tone control and Attack control, to give you even more control over YOUR TONE!

The compressor is from Harbor Freight, which is fine, but the regulator is not top quality. I'm trying to shoot the siding nails at 90psi, but the reg seems to be stuck at 100psi.
The compressor motor shuts down at 110psi and doesn't come back on until pressure drops to 80psi.
I might have to tweek it. I want it to charge to 120psi (the rated max pressure) and restart at >90psi.
