The World Museum of Mining was founded in 1963 when the close of Butte's mining heyday was less than two decades away. In the end Butte Montana experienced a century of hardrock mining and earned the reputation of being home to one of the world's most productive copper mines of all time.
What the heck? The mounting assembly for the A/C compressor and power steering pump has an ear with a hole that fits over one of the bolts that holds the water pump to the cylinder block. It doesn't attach there, it only bolts into 3 holes in the left cylinder head. I see no reason for it, there isn't any threads on the extension of the bolt on the water pump, the hole in the A/C compressor and power steering pump mount doesn't even touch the bolt or seat on the head of the bolt.
It just doesn't make any sense.
It does make for more stuff that has to be removed when replacing the water pump. How can a flat rate mechanic make any money changing a water pump with a setup like this?
I went with a friend to the Rodaun Cement Factory here in Vienna. Since the factory closed in 1996, the buildings have largely stood empty - visited only by vagrants and other urban explorers. For many years there were plans to build a series of apartments, but these plans never materialized until recently.
