Fancy hairdresser in Amsterdam

This image – a night shot – turned out to be very good. Technically. Focus is spot on, colors and shadows are deep, the two flashes and the light mod has been brought out with near perfection. But the composition is bad. The eye does not know where to look at, there is no anchor, the eye is lost in a maze it does not find its way out. A compositional failure.

#10 in the series

I like this picture because depth is created between the closer trees and the clouds further away. I think the trees and clouds really balance each other out.

The pink one (made in Brazil) I got at Office Depot and the paper is very thin but still excellent with no feathering even with my gushiest flex nibs using thin, runny ink. Even though they weren’t on sale, I got a bunch of these.

The brown one (made in Egypt) I got at Staples. The paper quality is okay — not as good as the pink one but not as bad as some others I’ve relegated for use as scraps. But, I love the off-white cream paper with brown lines. I think, with a warm, dark red-brown ink and a needlepoint fountain pen, I could make this work.

Composition doll that probably dates from the 1930's and stands about 21" tall. It was my mother's and in her cedar chest for many years. No markings on her but possibly a Shirley Temple look alike.

There is some damage but restoration is a thought for the future.

This photo uses composition by emphasizing the flower in the middle of the picture. To take this picture I had to put a pot of flowers we have on our porch in the right sunlight so it is hitting all of the flowers evenly. To edit this photo I mostly just brightened it a little bit. If i could change anything about this photo I would blur out the rest of the flowers and have it just focusing on the one in the middle. I would also edit out the leaves in the back.

Down the side of the composition notebook included all kinds of ribbons in colors that were my partners colors. As well, there were some unique chipboard, wooden, and paper diecuts reflective of my partner. The front cover of the compostition notebook was covered with paper first, and so was the back and spine. The rest of the front is covered with 12 slide mounts designed and created by me with varied items representing my partner. Some were 2-D and others were 3-D.

I chose this photo, because it perfectly depicts the area where I live. The water is smooth and tranquil, and the sunset reflects off it with a fiery intensity. The dock leads your eye across the scene to the epicenter of the sunset. A mixture of cool tones of the coming night, as well as the warm tones of the descending sun. The treeline in the background is perfectly mirrored of the water as well. Colors bumped up slightly in contrast, and shadows bumped as well.
