THE FACADE.
The Basilica of San Clemente in Laterano is recognized as one of the most famous medieval churches in the city of Rome, it is located between the Celio and Esquiline hills. Begun around 1084, it is formed by a quadriportico composed of four columns, an enormous central window and a bell tower located on the left. The interior, with three naves, houses a true artistic treasure, ranging from the mosaics, to the presbytery, up to the fourteenth-century schola cantorum.

I never delete my test shots. Rather I indulge my wild imaginations later...how can I give shapes to my apparently useless captures. Sometimes they come up with some unique results, very unusual of their kinds revealing my flexibility of mind, culminating into creations out of my subconscious, yet impulsive effort. Know not how!
I do it and get enough fun.
This one including the next two posts depict a series of a theme. Hope you may enjoy!
..To tell the truth, I'm actually quite fascinated by the various colours, shapes and lines in this view from the top of the White Tower of Thessaloniki.!.. Welcome to Thessaloniki, Greece.

Holy Week in Sicily:
"… There is no country in Sicily, in which
the passion of Christ does not revive
through a real
representation, in which people
lives or statuary groups do not
of the streets and squares the theater
of that great drama ... "
(Leonardo Sciascia).
“…Jesus said, “I love you as you are. And I love you too much to leave you as you are…”
(Chris Lyons).
The rites of Holy Week are present in Sicily with complexity of content and symbologies due to numerous influences, very present those due to the Spanish culture, dominating the island between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries; in the mystery of the death and resurrection of Christ, it is attended by a popular culture, referring to ancient pre-Byzantine rites that originated long before those of Mediterranean Christian culture.
These ancient rituals represent the most significant moments of the Passion of Jesus Christ, described in the Gospels, from his arrest by the Romans to the Resurrection and are part of the Holy Week celebrations, together with the normal religious functions.
The rites of Holy Week unite Sicily in a single collective rite, an appointment highly anticipated by many Sicilian and non-Sicilian photographers, due to the covid-19 pandemic, now also for this year 2021, as for last year, these celebrations- collective rites will not be able to take place, so I created a "photographic showcase" to be presented on Flickr, composed of images belonging to events that belong to the Sicilian Easter rites, posted in past years; of each reportage presented, I only took "a few cards" more or less significant, some photos were originally posted in black and white, and as such I left them, other photos were posted in color, the latter I re-edited in black and white to conform them to a single photographic language; some photos differ within this black and white language, for having been subjected to a very marked vignetting, I have left them anyway, belonging to reportage characterized by that type of post-production.

(Leonardo Sciascia).
“…Gesù disse: “Ti amo per come sei. E ti amo troppo per lasciarti come sei…”
(Chris Lyons).

2ЭС4К (2ES4K) is a 3 kV D.C. electric locomotive the Donchak composed of 2 units was produced by Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (NEVZ) at 2006-2018 yy. The 3-unit 3ЭС4К model having one booster B-unit in production from 2014. They are the successors of VL10 (VL11) family, the mass-produced DC electric locomotives built in Soviet Georgia by TEVZ and in Russia at NEVZ. In most mechanical parts they are unified with the Е5К (E5K) and 2/3/4ЕС5К (ES5K) The Ermak ("Ермак"), a family of new 25 kV AC mainline freight electric locomotives with four-axle sections equipped with collector traction motors. The number of sections can be from one to four (internal - boosters without cabs). This model of AC locomotives is named in honour of Russia's national hero Ermak, conqueror of Siberia in the times of Ivan IV The Terrible. They are the next evolutionary stage in the development of ВЛ80 (VL80) freight electric locomotives and are positioned as their main replacement. Like the VL80, they were developed by the All-Russian Research Institute of Electric Locomotive Building (VELNII) in Novocherkassk and have been produced since 2004 at the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant, a part of the CJSC Transmashholding concern, currently being the most mass-produced family of Russian electric locomotives. More than 2200 ones have already been built, including 1500 three-section 3ES5K. Production of DC eclectric locomotives is more limited with 148 of 2ES4K and 78 3ES4K were built to 2022 consequently.
Locomotives have a steel wagon-type body with a main frame, on which a plastic block control cabin and a set of equipment are mounted. The running gear is designed with axle-axle suspension of traction electric motors with motor-axle plain bearings. The bogies of the low-production 6-axle freight-passenger (Bo'Bo'Bo') electric locomotive ВЛ65 (VL65) are used, this bogie differs from the bogies of VL80 and VL85 by the absence of leaf springs (flexicoil suspension is used), and from the bogie of ВЛ80, in addition, by the absence of kingpins, the force transmission is through the central inclined link. The AC locomotives are equipped with advanced 850 kW collector traction motors НБ-514Д (NB-514D; in new modification ES5S is used asynchronous motors ДТА-1100 and IGBT transistors), as well as a microprocessor control system that provides manual and automatic motion control, diagnostics of motion parameters and operation of all locomotive equipment, electric regenerative braking. Its DC counterparts use different 800 kW DTC-800 traction motors and have a dynamic brake in addition to regenerative braking.

Devils Tower (also known as Bear Lodge Butte) is a butte, possibly laccolithic, composed of igneous rock in the Bear Lodge Ranger District of the Black Hills, near Hulett and Sundance in Crook County, northeastern Wyoming, above the Belle Fourche River. It rises 1,267 feet (386 m) above the Belle Fourche River, standing 867 feet (265 m) from summit to base. The summit is 5,112 feet (1,559 m) above sea level.
Devils Tower was the first United States national monument, established on September 24, 1906 by President Theodore Roosevelt. The monument's boundary encloses an area of 1,347 acres (545 ha).

Many People, Many Stories, One Place
The Tower is an astounding geologic feature that protrudes out of the prairie surrounding the Black Hills. It is considered sacred by Northern Plains Indians and indigenous people. Hundreds of parallel cracks make it one of the finest crack climbing areas in North America. Devils Tower entices us to learn more, explore more and define our place in the natural and cultural world.

Devils Tower National Monument, a unique and striking geologic wonder steeped in Native American legend, is a modern-day national park and climbers' challenge. Devils Tower sits across the state line in northeast Wyoming. The Tower is a solitary, stump-shaped granite formation that looms 1,267 feet above the tree-lined Belle Fourche River Valley, like a skyscraper in the country. Once hidden below the earth’s surface, erosion has stripped away the softer rock layers revealing the Tower.
The two-square-mile park surrounding the tower was proclaimed the nation’s first national monument by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906. The park is covered with pine forests, woodlands, and grasslands. While visiting the park you are bound to see deer, prairie dogs, and other wildlife. The mountain’s markings are the basis for Native American legend. One legend has it that a giant bear clawed the grooves into the mountainside while chasing several young Indian maidens. Known by several northern plains tribes as Bears Lodge, it is a sacred site of worship for many American Indians. Devils Tower is also remembered as the movie location for “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”
The stone pillar is about 1,000 feet in diameter at the bottom and 275 feet at the top and that makes it the premier rock climbing challenge in the Black Hills. Hikers enjoy the Monument’s trails. The 1.25-mile Tower Trail encircles the base. This self-guided hike offers close-up views of the forest and wildlife, not to mention spectacular views of the Tower itself. The Red Beds Trail covers a much wider three-mile loop around the tower.

While America’s first national monument garnered significant attention as the backdrop to the 1977 Stephen Spielberg movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the tower is sacred to Northern Plains Indian tribes and the Black Hills region Kiowa Tribe. With oral storytelling and a history that dates back thousands of years, today, American Indian tribes continue to hold sacred ceremonies at the tower, including sweat lodges and sun dances. There is more to this monument than its rich history. You can stop at the visitor’s center to learn about one of the ranger-led programs, night sky viewing, hiking and even climbing to the top of Devils Tower. If one day isn’t enough to explore this unforgettable area, bring your camping gear to stay within the monument, or stay just outside or in accommodations at one of the nearby towns.

This theme inspired me to take elements of 2 very different photos - one of my niece and a separate photo of a wet window (that I had in my collection).
