Situated close to Monaco, lies the very attractive and picturesque medieval village of Eze.

Eze is perched like an “eagle’s nest” on a superb cliff located 427m above sea level which enables the village and its light ochre church (Notre Dame de l’Assomption built in 1764) to be seen from afar.

It was during his stay on the Côte d’Azur that Frédéric Nietzsche discovered the village which later inspired him to compose the last part of his work “Thus Spoke Zarathustra”.

... if the summer comes to an end now so slowly. One feels already sometimes how the nature prepares for it. Has found some sentences in addition:

The darkness

begins again earlier

and smokier breathes

the wilted nature.

The foliage covers

rustling the ways,

the autumn already signs

his coloured track.

Still summer

and, nevertheless, already past.

In the morning as a white frost ends

the fog in the grass.

At noon seems

still the warming sun,

if she transforms him

in pearls of glass.

It is the glow of a glow worm in the night.

It is the breath of a buffalo in winter.

It is the small shadow that scurries across the grass

and gets lost in the sunset.

last words from Crowfoot, chief of the Blackfoot Indians

On the way at my virtual favourite lake...

Was ist Leben?

National park of KRKA in Dalmatia

The park consists of waterfalls which built up themselves on the river Krka thanks to the formation of travertine.

It possesses a fauna and a rich and varied flora.

By crossing the park, browsed by small brooks and small waterfalls pouring in an immense lake, we believe to have found the Heaven on Earth...

I have a dream, a song to sing

To help me cope with anything

If you see the wonder of a fairy tale

You can take the future even if you fail

I believe in angels

Something good in everything I see

I believe in angels

When I know the time is right for me

I'll cross the stream, I have a dream.

I had a very busy weekend and no time to be online. I don't think I'll be able to catch up with what I missed, but I will visit your latests posts today :)

Wow - While digging through my photo editing program, Luminar AI, I came across a template, formerly called a preset. And poof, the photo with the clear blue evening sky wasn't so boring anymore.

The cliffs at Hunstanton, Norfolk are famous for their colour bands and revealed geology.

The lowest dark brown level was laid down in shallow warm seas 70 million years ago during the Cretaceous. It is a 'Carstone' composed of sand and iron compounds and used as a local building material.

The younger much thinner 'red rock' layer is chalk coloured with iron pigments. Above that is a thick layer of white chalk. All have fossils but frequent rock falls make it dangerous to be too close.

The wreck is the remains of a 130ft long trawler 'S T Sheraton'. Built in 1907 it saw additional duty in WW1 and WW2 for minesweeping and anti-submarine patrols. If five years of war was not enough, she was then selected for bombing practice! She escaped that ignominy by breaking her moorings and going aground for a peaceful life (including providing a nice foreground for photographers) under the cliffs.

The new year is still hidden under a blanket of fog, we seem to float above it like in a balloon. With each new day, the fog will lift a little so that we can discover the surprises that life has in store for us....

What I wish you for the New Year:

Take time to dream,

That's the way to the stars.

Take time to reflect,

that is the source of clarity.

Take time to laugh,

that is the music of the soul.

Take time to live,

that is the richness of life.

Take time to be kind,

that is the gateway to happiness.

Was ich Dir fürs neue Jahr wünsche:

Nimm Dir Zeit zum Träumen,

das ist der Weg zu den Sternen.

Nimm Dir Zeit zum Nachdenken,

das ist die Quelle der Klarheit.

Nimm Dir Zeit zum Lachen,

das ist die Musik der Seele.

Nimm Dir Zeit zum Leben,

das ist der Reichtum des Lebens.

Nimm Dir Zeit zum Freundlichsein,

das ist das Tor zum Glück.

I composed this scene very close to the cabin I photographed in the last image. I felt that the scene needed some more drama, as the lines directly seem to lead into the fog and into the unknown. Picture taken at about 2000m asl. Praxmar 2019.

The San Francisco Bay Bridge is not as famous as the Golden Gate Bridge, nevertheless it is a very pretty structure.

Today I gave a "composition in the field" class to students of the Digital Photo Academy. We learned about ND (neutral density) filters in broad daylight. For this photo I stacked two ND8 filters, set the ISO to 100 and aperture to f22 to get an exposure time of 4 seconds. This smoothes out the waves nicely. The ND filters also change the colors a bit, e.g. they are not totally neutral. We get these beautiful turquoise tones because of it.

I processed a balanced HDR photo from a long exposure RAW image.

Muskrat Love.

Muskrat Love.

An observation that I have made for several years over the seasons from spring to late fall. Always observed in counter light, but really beautiful to observe and hear when they whisper to each other. You probably guessed it, I'm talking about the relationship we humans call Love. Love between these two cute, little Muskrats named Sam & Susie... Every time I watch them, an old song comes to mind, Muskrat Love composed by Willis Alan Ramsey in the 70s... This song qualified as Soft Rock has since been done over and over by several groups and singers and today it's still a classic.

....is it true or is a fake,

is it real or fantasy, never mind, its all in me :-))

The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2,300 kilometres over an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometres. The reef is located in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland, Australia. The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from outer space and is the world's biggest single structure made by living organisms. This reef structure is composed of and built by billions of tiny organisms, known as coral polyps. It supports a wide diversity of life and was selected as a World Heritage Site in 1981. The Great Barrier Reef has long been known to and used by the Aboriginal Australian and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and is an important part of local groups' cultures and spirituality. The reef is a very popular destination for tourists, especially in the Whitsunday Islands and Cairns regions. Tourism is an important economic activity for the region, generating over A$3 billion per year. 22837
