ENK Complex
Initiated in August 2006 the ENK Complex is a landmark urban development for the city centre of Prishtina, the capital of the newly formed state of Kosovo. The ENK Complex will be an integrated multi-use development, providing the city centre with high-end office facilities, luxury residential accommodation, lavish retail arcades and a five star hotel.
These services of international standard will be integrated with an extensive fully pedestrianized public area of multi-leveled parks that are easily accessible via ramps, scenic passageways and elevators. Discreet, but extensive parking facilities will be located below ground level. 4M Group are working in conjunction with Anarch, a local architecture company to create a scheme that is without precedent in the region. With the significant increase in the population of Prishtina the best use of scarce land both in terms of sustainability, Urban development needs and regional development interests is of pressing concern.

The architectural ethnographic complex Etura is situated at the distance of 8 km south of the town of Gabrovo in the immediate proximity of the Etara quarter and past the Sivek River (at the distance of 3 km from the road-fork to Shipka). The complex disposes an area of 60 decares an is unique for south-eastern Europe.
It is an open-air museum where is reproduced the authentic life of a typical craftsmanship settlement from the period of Bulgarian Revival. The way Bulgarian people lived 150 years ago can be perceived and felt here. One can hear the rattle of wheels and mills moved by water, the whiz of the mills for woollen cloths and for flour. Metal ornaments, pottery articles, copper utensils, braids, hot buns and whatever else come out from the skillful hands of the masters there.
The little cobblestone streets, the stone cheshmi (drinking-fountains), the gas lanterns, Sakov`s house, the house with the tavern, the clock tower and a lot of other authentic details complete the whole picture.
There is a regular bus line running from town of Gabrovo to Etara.

The Roman Baths complex is a site of historical interest in the English city of Bath. The house is a well-preserved Roman site for public bathing. The Roman Baths themselves are below the modern street level. There are four main features: the Sacred Spring, the Roman Temple, the Roman Bath House and the Museum holding finds from Roman Bath.
The buildings above street level date from the 19th century. The Baths are a major tourist attraction and, together with the Grand Pump Room, receive more than one million visitors a year, with 1,037,518 people during 2009. It was featured on the 2005 TV program Seven Natural Wonders as one of the wonders of the West Country. Visitors can see the Baths and Museum but cannot enter the water. An audio guide is available in several languages.
The first shrine at the site of the hot springs was built by Celts and was dedicated to the goddess Sulis, whom the Romans identified with Minerva. Geoffrey of Monmouth in his largely fictional Historia Regum Britanniae describes how in 836 BC the spring was discovered by the British king Bladud who built the first baths. Early in the eighteenth century Geoffrey's obscure legend was given great prominence as a royal endorsement of the waters' qualities, with the embellishment that the spring had cured Bladud and his herd of pigs of leprosy through wallowing in the warm mud.
The name Sulis continued to be used after the Roman invasion, leading to the town's Roman name of Aquae Sulis (literally, "the waters of Sulis"). The temple was constructed in 60-70 AD and the bathing complex was gradually built up over the next 300 years. During the Roman occupation of Britain, and possibly on the instructions of Emperor Claudius, engineers drove oak piles to provide a stable foundation into the mud and surrounded the spring with an irregular stone chamber lined with lead. In the second century it was enclosed within a wooden barrel-vaulted building and included the caldarium (hot bath), tepidarium (warm bath), and frigidarium (cold bath). After the Roman withdrawal from Britain in the first decade of the fifth century, these fell into disrepair and were eventually lost due to silting up and flooding. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle suggests the original Roman baths were destroyed in the 6th century.
About 130 curse tablets have been found. Many of the curses related to thefts of clothes whilst the victim was bathing. This collection is the most important found in Britain. (Excerpted from Wikipedia)
The MENA* region is a complex region, undergoing many developments; namely a civil war is going on in Syria. The ALDE Group would like firstly to analyse which are the possibilities that exist to end violence in Syria; secondly we would focus on the current situation in the MENA region, examining the role of the European Union including its policy instruments, carving out steps and policies that have to be taken (by the States and their societies as well as by the EU) to improve governance in the MENA countries.

The Detroit News Complex was constructed for the Detroit News, one of the city's leading newspapers, founded in 1873 by James E. Scripps, and occupied by the News from its opening in 191 7 until October, 2014. The publisher of the paper at the time of its construction was George G. Booth, whose vision of the paper's role and importance is reflected in the building. The News Building is also significant as a product of Detroit architect Albert Kahn's industrial and office architecture designed for a highly visible downtown setting. The News Building's exterior sculpture and relief work is a remarkable display of sculptural and decorative art that contributes strongly to its overall distinction and cultural significance. The building is also historically important for housing radio station WWJ, Michigan's first commercial radio station, which broadcast during its early years beginning in 1920 from the Detroit News Building. The Detroit News complex meets national register criterion A for its contributions to the newspaper industry's development in Detroit and the early history of commercial radio in Detroit, Michigan, and the United States. The Detroit News complex also meets national register criterion C for its 1915-24 buildings and structures designed by Detroit architect Albert Kahn.

The temple complex was constructed from 1406 to 1420 during the reign of the Yongle Emperor, who was also responsible for the construction of the Forbidden City in Beijing. The complex was extended and renamed Temple of Heaven during the reign of the Jiajing Emperor in the 16th century.
The Temple of Heaven was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998 and was described as "a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design which simply and graphically illustrates a cosmogony of great importance for the evolution of one of the world’s great civilizations..." as the "symbolic layout and design of the Temple of Heaven had a profound influence on architecture and planning in the Far East over many centuries." - wikipedia

The German Army murdered about 450 civilians (including 35 children) and prisoners of war in August 1942. They are still buried here.
The Battle of Voronezh, or First Battle of Voronezh, was a battle on the Eastern Front of World War II, fought in and around the strategically important city of Voronezh on the Don river, 450 km (280 mi) south of Moscow, from 28 June-24 July 1942, as opening move of the German summer offensive in 1942.
The battle was marked by heavy urban fighting, and ferocious street-fighting, showing what was to come at the Battle of Stalingrad.
The German attack had two objectives. One was to seed confusion about the ultimate goals of the overall campaign. There was widespread feeling by almost all observers, especially Soviet high command, that the Germans would reopen their attack on Moscow that summer. By strongly attacking toward Voronezh, near the site of the German's deepest penetration the year before, it would hide the nature of the real action taking place far to the south. Soviet forces sent to the area to shore up the defenses would not be able to move with the same speed as the Germans, who would then turn south and leave them behind. The other purpose was to provide an easily defended front line along the river, providing a strong left flank that could be protected with relatively light forces.
The plan involved forces of Army Group South, at this time far north of their ultimate area of responsibility. The attack would be spearheaded by the 4th Panzer Army under the command of General Hermann Hoth. Hoth's highly mobile forces would move rapidly eastward to Voronezh and then turn southeast to follow the Don to Stalingrad. As the 4th moved out of the city, the slower infantry forces of the Second Army following behind them would take up defensive positions along the river. The plan called for the 2nd to arrive just as the 4th had cleared the city, and Hoth was under orders to avoid any street-to-street fighting that might bog down their progress.
The city was defended by the troops of the 40th Army as part of the Valuiki-Rossosh Defensive Operation (28 June-24 July 1942) of General of Army Nikolai Fyodorovich Vatutin's Southwestern Front. Hoth's powerful armored forces moved forward with little delay and the only natural barrier before the city was the Devitsa River, an arm of the Don running through Semiluki, a short distance to the west. For reasons that are unclear, the bridge over the Devitsa was not destroyed, and Hoth's forces were able to sweep aside the defensive forces placed there and reach the outskirts of Voronezh on 7 July. Soviet forces then mounted a successful counterattack that tied up Hoth's forces.
At this point they should have been relieved by the infantry forces, but they were still far from the city. Intense house-to-house fighting broke out, and Hoth continued to push forward while he waited. At one point the 3rd Motorized Division broke across the Don, but turned back. The Soviet command poured reserves into the city and a situation not unlike what would be seen at Stalingrad a few months later broke out, with the German troops clearing the city street by street with flamethrowers while tanks gave fire support.
The 2nd did not arrive for another two days, by which time the 4th was heavily engaged and took some time to remove from the line. The 2nd continued the battle until 24 July, when the final Soviet forces west of the Don were defeated and the fighting ended. Adolf Hitler later came to believe that these two days, when combined with other avoidable delays on the drive south, allowed Marshal Semyon Timoshenko to reinforce the forces in Stalingrad before the 4th Panzer Army could arrive to allow taking of Stalingrad.
The Soviet forces recaptured the city in the Battle of Voronezh of 1943.
