This complex combines the tomb of the saint Zangi-Ota, his wife Ambar-bibi, a huge garden, a madrasa, a memorial mosque, a minaret, and an ancient cemetery.
Zangi-Ota (Sheikh Ay Khodja ibn Mansura, nicknamed Zangi-Ota because of his dark skin) d.1258, was the spiritual descendant of Ahmad Yasawi (1093-1166), a great Turkic poet, Sufi, and mystic.
Patron: Timur (or Tamerlane, Timur the lame) c.1325-1405, was a Turco-Mongol conqueror who founded the Timurid Empire (embracing what is now Afghanistan, Iran, and Central Asia), becoming the first ruler of the Timurid dynasty.
That the ganesh temple was actually in the middle of these peoples house/courtyard. The children were many. Maybe 23 or so, all smiling, and wearing brightly coored clothes studded with mirrors, (actually just the girls, but most were girls) They LOVED to play with us, and quickly dressed Julie up in the local garb. Eventually it was communicated that we don't need anything but a floor to sleep on, and we were generously welcomed in. (though our american concept of what is generous is quite twisted, we are coming to realize)

This photograph is showing Warrington Bank Quay Railway Station with the backdrop of the Crown Paints complex which is one of the major manufacturers of paint in Great Britain. I like this picture as it is a good example of how industry used to pollute our atmosphere. unfortunately some companies still think it is acceptable.

Lijiang Old Town.
Set in the heart of Lijiang’s Old Town, the Mu Palace was the home of the Mu clan who led the Naxi people and ruled Lijiang for over 700 years. The buildings and grounds are influenced by an attractive mix of Naxi, Tibetan and Han architecture and design.
The Mu Palace is a key attraction in Lijiang and a pleasant change to the shops, bars and restaurants on Lijiang’s Old Town.
The Mu Mansion was the seat of power and the home of the Mu Clan was built in 1382 and was compared to the imperial palace at that time. The mansion was destroyed during the Qing Dynasty wars and was later rebuilt from 1996 to 1999. The rebuilt mansion was based on the original mansion but only have the size.
The Asklepion is an ancient medical complex built in honor of the god of healing - Asklepios. It was also the first psychiatric hospital which became famous during the 2nd century.
Pergamon (Ancient Greek: τὸ Πέργαμον or ἡ Πέργαμος), or Pergamum, was an ancient Greek city in Aeolis, currently located 26 kilometres (16 mi) from the Aegean Sea on a promontory on the north side of the river Caicus (modern day Bakırçay). Today, the main sites of ancient Pergamon are to the north and west of the modern city of Bergama in Turkey.
Some ancient authors regarded it as a colony of the Arcadians, but the various origin stories all belong to legend. The Greek historians reconstructed a complete history for it due to confusion with the distant Teuthrania. It became the capital of the Kingdom of Pergamon during the Hellenistic period, under the Attalid dynasty, 281–133 BC. Pergamon is cited in the Book of Revelation as one of the seven churches of Asia.

The Farichild Milling grain complex on Merwin Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. This is the last grain mill still operating in Cleveland. At one time, there were 13 active mills along the Cuyahoga River.
The first structure here was a six-story wood building erected about 1882. (That's the wood-clad structure.) Across Merwin Avenue to the northeast is a two-story brick building which served as Fairchild's headquarters, and which was built about the same time. Montana Flour Mills built a six-story brick building at the site in 1946. (That's the one to which the two grain elevators are attached.)
The complex has of two banks of grain elevators. One bank straddles the 1946 structure. On the north side is a tall silo in the west, with four newer and slightly shorter silos to the east of it. Another short silo is to the north of these. On the south side are two short silos. The other bank has 45 elevators in a five-by-nine configuration. The elevators were built by Fairchild Milling at a cost of $105,000 in 1936 and 1937.
Fairchild Milling Company was purchased by Montana Flour Mills in the 1940s, which in turn was bought by Cereal Food Processors -- which continues to own and operate the structure.
Inch-scale layered plagioclase feldspar and pyroxene in the Precambrian of Montana, USA.
Southern Montana’s Beartooth Mountains has one of the few platinum mines in North America. There, platinum and palladium are mined from the 2.71 billion-years-old Stillwater Complex, a classic example of an LLI (large, layered igneous province). LLIs are large intrusive bodies that display large-scale and small-scale layering, even including cross bedding, ripples, graded bedding, channelforms, and other sedimentary-like features. The Stillwater originated as a large subsurface mass of slowly cooling magma. As various minerals crystallized, they settled to the bottom of the magma chamber - this resulted in layering. Igneous rocks that formed this way have a cumulate texture. Currents in the still-liquid portions of the magma chamber produced the sedimentary structures mentioned above. Most of the Stillwater displays only large-scale layering.
The rocks in the Stillwater are mafic and ultramafic, intrusive igneous rocks. Common lithologies include gabbro, norite, harzburgite, anorthosite, troctolite, chromitite, pyroxenite, and dunite. Portions of the Stillwater have been metamorphosed. Olivine is the most commonly altered component - it's usually been metamorphosed to serpentine.
The main platinum (Pt) and palladium (Pd) occurrence is in the Johns-Manville Reef (J-M Reef), an interval in the lower part of the Lower Banded Series. The Pt and Pd occur in intercumulate sulfides, typically pyrrhotite (Fe1-xS) and chalcopyrite (CuFeS2). Platinum ores in the J-M Reef are principally sulfidic anorthosites, but other lithologies also occur. The J-M Reef is the highest grade deposit known for platinum-group elements (PGEs).
The outcrop seen here does not have platinum ore. The layering consists of alternating bands of plagioclase feldspar and pyroxene. The layering was originally horizontal; Stillwater Complex rocks have been structurally tilted by mountain building.
Stratigraphy: Lower Banded Series, Stillwater Complex, Neoarchean, 2.71 Ga

(See links) Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary last named Brushy Mountain Correctional Complex (also called Brushy) was a large maximum-security prison in the town of Petros in Morgan County, Tennessee, operated by the Tennessee Department of Correction. It was established in 1896 and operated until 2009.
Most Tennesseans have heard of Brushy Mountain Prison, the infamous maximum security penitentiary where the Volunteer State’s most hardened criminals were housed.
Hidden in the mountains of east Tennessee, just outside the hamlet of Petros lies the now closed Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary, once a key part of the Tennessee penal system. It doesn’t have the fame of Alcatraz or other well known prisons but it was just as important and mysterious. It was constructed by inmates from stone quarried on site and looks like a castle, it must have been something to build their own prison. From above one can see it is shaped like a cross which illustrates the importance of religion to the people of the area. It’s history is long and complicated, it is one of the oldest penitentiaries in the US.
Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary - Roadside America
The prison is nearly encircled by rugged wooded terrain in a remote section of the Cumberland Plateau, adjacent to Frozen Head State Park and Natural Area. Escape attempts were infrequent and almost always unsuccessful. Perhaps the best-known escape attempt occurred on June 10, 1977, when James Earl Ray, the assassin of Martin Luther King Jr., escaped with six other inmates by climbing over a fence. Ray was captured less than 58 hours later in rugged mountain terrain 81⁄2 miles from the prison.
Tour Brushy. Brushy Mountain was the last place you wanted to find yourself – right in the middle of Tennessee’s first maximum-security prison holding the state’s most violent murderers, robbers and rapists for over a century. With some sentences of 200 years or more, most of the men who walked through its gates would never be walking out. Come see for yourself just what life was like for lost souls at the End of the Line.
