The first anniversary image from the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope displays star birth like it’s never been seen before, full of detailed, impressionistic texture. The subject is the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex, the closest star-forming region to Earth. It is a relatively small, quiet stellar nursery, but you’d never know it from Webb’s chaotic close-up. Jets bursting from young stars crisscross the image, impacting the surrounding interstellar gas and lighting up molecular hydrogen, shown in red. Some stars display the telltale shadow of a circumstellar disc, the makings of future planetary systems.
The young stars at the centre of many of these discs are similar in mass to the Sun or smaller. The heftiest in this image is the star S1, which appears amid a glowing cave it is carving out with its stellar winds in the lower half of the image. The lighter-coloured gas surrounding S1 consists of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, a family of carbon-based molecules that are among the most common compounds found in space.
[Image description: Red dual opposing jets coming from young stars fill the darker top half of the image, while a glowing pale-yellow, cave-like structure is bottom centre, tilted toward two o’clock, with a bright star at its centre. The dust of the cave structure becomes wispy toward eight o’clock. Above the arched top of the dust cave three groupings of stars with diffraction spikes are arranged. A dark cloud sits at the top of the arch of the glowing dust cave, with one streamer curling down the right-hand side. The dark shadow of the cloud appears pinched in the centre, with light emerging in a triangle shape above and below the pinch, revealing the presence of a star inside the dark cloud. The image’s largest jets of red material emanate from within this dark cloud, thick and displaying structure like the rough face of a cliff, glowing brighter at the edges. At the top centre of the image, a star displays another, larger pinched dark shadow, this time vertically. To the left of this star is a more wispy, indistinct region.]

The buildings in this historic mill complex date from 1850 till about 1890. They were used to manufacture wool, cotton, paper bags, and then, finally, chocolate from the early 1900s till World War II. More recently the old mill buildings have been renovated and repurposed as retail, dining and office space. Ballston Spa, New York.

Green Island, Bolton Landing, New York USA • The Sagamore is a Victorian era resort hotel located on Lake George in Bolton Landing, New York. The name Sagamore is taken from the title for the chief of a Native American tribe. The Sagamore of the Mohicans was a featured character in James Fenimore Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans, many scenes of which were set in the Lake George region. Several of Lake George's nearby islands also bear the names of characters from Cooper's book. ~ The resort occupies a private island (Green Island) on Lake George. ~ The main feature of The Sagamore is the historic hotel, which overlooks the lake. In addition, a number of more modern buildings have been constructed on the island containing hotel rooms and suites and condominiums, as well as a conference center. … In January 2009, the Sagamore announced that it would close for the winter months for the first time ever in its operation, due to the economic recession. – from the Wikipedia summary.
Lake George and Bolton Landing are within the borders of the six million acre New York Adirondack State Park, created in 1892.
☞ The Sagamore Hotel Complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places (#83001824) on July 21, 1983.
My first official excursion out using my new camera and loving it. Still exploring some more in black & white till the next thing grabs me again.
The top platform of this complex is where the most popular shots are taken from.
Due to some restoration works , thanks to the ash spewed by Mt Merapi, had no choice but to look for a new and maybe unique POV. Seems this is one of them if not the first !

Konark Sun Temple is a 13th-century CE (year 1250) Sun temple at Konark about 35 kilometres (22 mi) northeast from Puri city on the coastline in Puri district, Odisha, India. The temple is attributed to king Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty about 1250 CE.
Dedicated to the Hindu Sun God Surya, what remains of the temple complex has the appearance of a 100-foot (30 m) high chariot with immense wheels and horses, all carved from stone. Once over 200 feet (61 m) high, much of the temple is now in ruins, in particular the large shikara tower over the sanctuary; at one time this rose much higher than the mandapa that remains. The structures and elements that have survived are famed for their intricate artwork, iconography, and themes, including erotic kama and mithuna scenes. Also called the Surya Devalaya, it is a classic illustration of the Odisha style of Architecture or Kalinga architecture.
The cause of the destruction of the Konark temple is unclear and still remains a source of controversy. Theories range from natural damage to deliberate destruction of the temple in the course of being sacked several times by Muslim armies between the 15th and 17th centuries. This temple was called the "Black Pagoda" in European sailor accounts as early as 1676 because it looked like a great tiered tower which appeared black. Similarly, the Jagannath Temple in Puri was called the "White Pagoda". Both temples served as important landmarks for sailors in the Bay of Bengal. The temple that exists today was partially restored by the conservation efforts of British India-era archaeological teams. Declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1984, it remains a major pilgrimage site for Hindus, who gather here every year for the Chandrabhaga Mela around the month of February.
Konark Sun Temple is depicted on the reverse side of the Indian currency note of 10 rupees to signify its importance to Indian cultural heritage.

Exploring a Forgotten Office Complex
Finally the time has come and I can proudly present the first photo of my new series “Echoes of Abandonment. Exploring a Forgotten Office Complex”. It was a very exciting visit and I am very happy to be able to present another series of a Lost Place. And yes: on the Photo above you can see the building that will be shown. It was so big and we were able to go and see almost every floor and room :)
About the Series:
All photos of the series were shot at an abandoned office complex. It seems that the complex was about to be demolished, but I guess they stopped the work on it. It’s located somewhere in Bavaria and with a little investigation and a careful look at this series, everybody should find it. The selected sequence of photos should give the viewer the impression of a walk through the complex and it corresponds mostly to the actually gone way. Of course I wasn't inside myself and I only got the Photos by accident :D
About the post-processing:
For editing I've used the Lightromm plug-in "Silver Efex Pro". More precisely: Preset Nr. 28 (in German: "kühle töne"), but partly with adjustments: sometimes I omitted the blue color filter and I often reduced the very strong contrast of the preset to bring out the details more clearly. For the frame I used the free lightroom plug-in “mogrify”.
The complex circle intersection of MA 9 and Oak Street in Natick. It's sort of like a rotary with the through street running through the center, and with traffic signals. There is a similar intersection down in Marlton, New Jersey, at the intersection of NJ 70 and NJ 73, though that one is soon to become a grade separated interchange.

A complex composition, lots of separate elements at play but I think that maybe the flow of it all holds it together.
Taken during our walking in Errant Rocks :)
Errant Rocks (Polish: Błędne Skały) it's a complex of rock blocks at an altitude of 853 m, creating a picturesque labyrinth (rock city), located in south-western Poland in the Central Sudetes in the Stołowe Mountains. The area of strict protection called Errant Rocks has 22 hectares. It contains a group of unusual rock forms about 6 - 11 meters high, created as a result of absondering sandstone weathering. Errant Rocks is a labyrinth of crevices and recesses, sometimes very narrow, separating several meters high rock blocks. Many rocks have their own names, for example: "Rock Saddle", "Hen's Foot", "Labyrinth", "Tunnel", "Big Chamber". These various rock formations create a several hundred meter tourist route with a unique charm, which we often literally squeeze through narrow cracks between the rocks. The height of the corridors varies between 6-8 m, the width is different - in some places it is only a few tens of centimeters. On the area of Errant Rocks there is a point of observation on a platform called "Rock Bowls". From there we can see both Szczeliniec Wielki and Maly, Broumovska Vrchovina, the town Machov, and when there is good visibility, we can also see the Karkonosze mountains.

Jeden z wielu skalnych korytarzy w Błędnych Skałach :)
Błędne Skały – zespół bloków skalnych na wysokości 853 m n.p.m., tworzący malowniczy labirynt (skalne miasto), położony w południowo-zachodniej Polsce w Sudetach Środkowych w Górach Stołowych. Obszar Błędnych Skał ma powierzchnię ok. 22 ha. Obejmuje on swoim zasięgiem zespół osobliwych form skalnych o wysokości 6 - 11 m, wytworzonymi wskutek wietrzenia piaskowca ciosowego. Błędne Skały to labirynt szczelin i zaułków, niekiedy niezwykle wąskich, oddzielających bloki skalne kilkunastometrowej wysokości. Widoczny stąd jest m.in. Szczeliniec Wielki i Mały, Broumovska Vrchovina, miejscowość Machov, a przy dobrej widoczności zobaczyć możemy także Karkonosze.
