Filled a vase with water then poured in acrylic paint, the aim was to capture the flow and movement of the paint.

 

Taken in normal light conditions.

Fence posts, adjacent to Bowmont Park, cast long shadows across icy snow as the January sun rises over the horizon in Calgary, Alberta.

The blue waters of the Bow River provide a backdrop to the sunlit branches of frosty aspen tree, at Bowmont Park, Calgary.

This one was a challenge, mostly due to my inexperience with creating compositions.

 

I've used two balls of yarn I had and the hooks in similar colours to the wool used. The hooks were used to break up the composition, although I think I overdid it a bit.

Macro shot - experimenting with Dof and colour.

 

I wanted to minimise Dof with this shot and get as close up as possible, keeping the centre 'silver hairs' as sharp as possible, leaving the background and some of the outer spikes' soft.

 

Green tissue paper pinned up against a window to let the light reflect through. I love the way the light makes the spikes goes almost luminous - an amazing flower!

Used 50mm f/1.8 lens. Wanted to keep the centre sharp and blur out to the edges

 

Wanted to create impact with colour - using complimentary colours. I used green tissue paper pinned up against a window to let the light reflected through. I wanted to make the colour pop as much as possible.

 

Originally taken for Dof practice - but kept back for Week 5 - colour!
