This image complements the previous image of Notre Dame Cathedral, because it is taken about 10 meters away from the previous POV. (180 degree turn)
This is Lake Louise, a glacier fed lake famous for it's turquoise water, majestic glacier and Alberta Rocky Mountains. I saw a beautiful model posing for her photographer. I thought the beauty of the surrounding and the beautiful model complement each other and captured the moment.

The water tower in the middle of the chapel bridge is part of the historic city fortification of Lucerne and is considered a landmark of the city.
The 35-metre-high octagonal and slightly leaning tower complements the city fortification towards the lake. Its construction time cannot be determined with certainty, but certainly after 1262, so even before the chapel bridge built. It has long served as a defensive and watchtower, as well as a cornerstone of the city's fortification. Over the years, he was a city archive, treasury, dungeon and torture chamber.
It is mentioned for the first time in 1367. The existing roof chair dates back to 1339. Since 1939 the tower has been rented to the Lucerne Artillery Association. The tower is rarely open to the public, usually only in summer.
On the lower floor of the tower is a dungeon. Its walls are three meters thick, there are neither windows nor doors. Access is only possible via an opening in the floor of the room above. The dungeon was probably used as a prison until 1759 and then abandoned. On the first floor is the so-called treasury. It served as a prison and as an interrogation and torture chamber until 1759. From 1759 to 1798 the state treasure was kept here, from 1798 to 1803 the room served again as a prison and from 1804 to keep the securities of the community. The second upper floor was until 1759 the place of storage of the Lucerne State Treasury and the State Archives.
When it was discovered in 1758 that money had been stolen for years, it was converted into a prison (until 1802). From 1804 to 1919 he again housed the municipal archive. The striking stork nest on the top of the tower has not been used for over 100 years. The 15-metre-high attic served as an interrogation and torture chamber. Since 1892 alpine sailors have been breeding here in a colony, which is supervised by the Ornithological Society of the City of Lucerne (OGL), since 1959 on behalf of the City Council of Lucerne. The Alpine sailing colony in the water tower is the largest Alpine swift "Tachymarptis melba" colony in central Switzerland.

I have found another capture to complement the previuously posted image of the Satin Bowerbird. I quite like the uplifting mood created by this one of three young birds frolicking in the trees.
In case you wonder about the Latin name of this bird: male Satin Bowerbird develops his dark violet-satiny sheen after seven years.

Chinese gardens are constructed to recreate and miniaturize larger natural landscapes. Traditionally, Chinese gardens blend unique, ornate buildings with natural elements. Just about every Chinese garden contains architecture, like a building or pavilion; decorative rocks and a rock garden; plants, trees and flowers; and water elements, like ponds. Most Chinese gardens are enclosed by a wall and some have winding paths. Chinese gardens aren’t just thrown together. Instead, they’re deliberately designed and visitors should walk through them in the particular order that the garden was laid out.
The Chinese Garden of Friendship (simplified Chinese: 谊园; traditional Chinese: 誼園) is a heritage-listed 1.03-hectare (3-acre) Chinese garden at 1 Harbour Street, in the Sydney Central Business District, City of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Modelled after the classic private gardens of the Ming Dynasty, the garden offers an insight into Chinese heritage and culture. It was designed by Guangzhou Garden Planning & Building Design Institute, Tsang & Lee, and Edmond Bull & Corkery and built from 1986 to 1988 by Gutteridge Haskins & Davey; the Darling Harbour Authority; Imperial Gardens; Leightons; and Australian Native Landscapes. The gardens were added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 5 October 2018. The Chinese Garden of Friendship was designed by Sydney's Chinese sister city, Guangzhou in China. Sydney's Chinatown complements the area's already rich in Chinese heritage and culture. The garden was officially opened 17 January 1988 as part of Sydney's Bicentennial Celebrations and named the Chinese Garden of Friendship symbolising the bond established between China and Australia. 14936

A Rufous Sibia (Heterophasia capistrata) was framed enjoying morning Sun on a very artistic branched twig with a 'V' shaped symmetry. It has a smaller 'v' in the left side branch and a larger 'V' in the centre as well. The Orange colour of the bird here was so well complemented with the greenish Bokeh backdrop. The posture and expression of the bird made it a very special composition. Pics was taken from Darjeeling in West Bengal, India.
As the iconic John Hancock building (1969) celebrates its 50th birthday, The Chicago Ave. pumping station of the historic water tower pictured here (1869) celebrates 150 years standing. It was only fitting to capture them together. The upscale Water Tower Place also makes the shot as it's white marble facade beautifully complements The black trusses of the Hancock.
Not sure what type of flowering vine this is but it sure seems to complement the colors of this warbler.
OK my friend Trisha has coined this the Parula vine. I'm sticking with that until/if someone has a better or the real name.
OK it's a Crossvine. Thanks Al.
This set of enchanting palms were photographed during my visit to Jardim Botanico (Botanical Garden) in Rio de Janeiro last week.
It was a wonderful visit to the vast Garden with many interesting features and plants of various shapes and sizes. There were clusters of large palm trees along the edge of the large pond, with enchanting reflections complementing the beautiful landscape.
Best wishes for a great weekend!
the red Rose complements the three white Roses so very well, they emphasise each other's qualities.

It Is Said That Nothing Is Going to Last Forever
I’m just glad for the time I have now
Let the mysteries come
The confusion reign
The sun rise
The sun set
A new day begins
And then it ends
Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one early evening around sunset in the area around International Falls, Minnesota. The view extends to the west looking along the shores of Rainy Lake. Other than aligning myself up to more or less center the sun in the image, the rest was moving around the shoreline until I could find a look with that to complement the lake waters in the right hand portion of the image.
I chose to work with Camera RAW HDR merge tool to better bring that complete color setting in the image. I later exported a TIFF image to DxO PhotoLab 9 where I did some final adjustments with contrast, saturation and brightness for the final image.
For Christmas I went out to buy White Tulips to complement our white-lighted Tree. Looking closely, as I am wont to do, I noticed that one of the immaculate tulips has a single, narrow scarlet stripe. Must be a gene mutation or anomaly. Pretty though.
During our visit to the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition in Mons, we visited this park labeled "Remarkable Garden" since May 2021, this 3ha estate accommodates the buildings of a former brewery-malt house surrounded by a park with century-old trees. decorative objects.
Set back in a large wooded property, fenced with a high wall and gates, neoclassical ensemble of an old brewery built in the 2nd half of the 19th century, today called the Château du Bocage. Arranged in semi-enclosed order around a quadrangular courtyard, low outbuildings, barn and imposing main building, remarkably homogeneous.
the decorative structures offered by the Quintessence store are grouped by theme. You can see them throughout the walk with that characteristic rust of Corten steel everywhere.
This is the new trend. Corten steel is now suitable for cutting plant decorations that can complement a special atmosphere in the garden. For these precise cuts, craftsmen use a digitally controlled laser beam. It melts metal without creating burrs. The line can be very delicate.
Claudine took the opportunity to buy three garden decorations including a module.
This picture perfectly complements my post from yesterday's Great Garden in Dresden. Both pictures convey the same message: the longing for colors that we feel every spring (well, I certainly do).
But while in Dresden, wish fulfillment is already in full swing, here we are looking down from the summit of the Old Wildenstein into a dark and almost colorless valley. And that's not just because the forests in Saxon Switzerland have been severely affected by drought and bark beetles (although that, of course, also plays a part).
Because, in addition to many dead spruce trees, there are also a whole row of birch and beech trees over there. But they're just not ready yet.
And so our gaze clings to the bright green branches of the pine tree in front of us and the moss at its feet. While the setting sun at least briefly transforms the sky into a sea of warm hues.

Clifford Pier is an iconic landmark located beside Collyer Quay at Marina Bay Singapore. The Pier was completed in 1933, and has served as a landing point for immigrants and other sea passengers to Singapore. It has since been renovated as part of Fullerton Bay Hotel, and currently serves as a restaurant. This photograph shows the gorgeous interior decorations that complement the original and unique architectural features, with the floor tiles providing attractive reflections.
One from the archives. Etihad Airways Airbus A380 flying over Southwark on its approach to Heathrow Airport. The colours of the airline's livery complement the golden reflection in the glass of the One Blackfriars tower.
Thank You to everyone who took the trouble to view comment or fave
- One of the best views of St Paul's - the symmetry of the bridge complements the formal classical architecture.
In my opinion this is best shot, just after sunset as here, where the dome is lit up & highlighted, & the wonderful blue lights of the Millenium bridge come on (although they take on a turquoise colour through the glass panels of the bridge)
Not the easiest shot as there's a fairly small window of opportunity between the bridge lights coming on & the light levels dropping too much - which means the dome tends to give blown highlights & needs HDR treatment (even then doesn't look quite as good)
The other big problem is the people like me who walk all over the bridge! - it gets busier than an ice cream van on Brighton beach on a sunny bank holiday Monday - especially at this time!
If you want to capture the beauty of the blue lights on the bridge there's no option other than to use a 10 stop filter and get a 60 second exposure (minimum) to remove the crowds.
Even then you'll need to take a few shots because there's always a few stragglers who stop for ages to take in & photograph the great view & ruin even 60 second shots.
If you're not a fully paid up photo crazy geek like me and feel a bit self conscious with a tripod this is THE place to shake off those inhibitions because you have to stick your tripod smack bang in the middle of the half landing of the bridge!
But hey - if you can make it here - just like New York - you can make it anywhere!

This image depicts an old window on a side façade of the Chiesa della Madonna del Carmine in Noto, Sicily. The window features wooden shutters, weathered with time, and painted in a dark brown color, now peeling and revealing layers of history. The surrounding wall is textured and aged, with warm, earthy tones that complement the rustic appearance of the window. The shutters are partially open, allowing a glimpse of the barred interior window, covered with a light curtain.
Noto, a city in southeastern Sicily, is renowned for its exquisite Baroque architecture. Rebuilt in the 18th century after a devastating earthquake in 1693, Noto is often referred to as the "Capital of Baroque." Its streets are lined with elegant palaces, churches, and buildings that showcase the grandeur of Sicilian Baroque style. The Chiesa della Madonna del Carmine, like many other structures in Noto, exemplifies this architectural brilliance with its intricate facades and artistic details.
The city's historic center has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracting visitors from around the world who come to admire its beauty and rich cultural heritage. Noto's architecture is characterized by its harmonious proportions, intricate stone carvings, and the use of local golden limestone, which gives the buildings their distinctive, warm glow. This window, with its timeworn charm, is a testament to the enduring beauty and craftsmanship that defines Noto's architectural legacy.
