"To increase use of 50 miles of bike lanes in Washington, D.C., the District Department of Transportation began operations of Capital Bikeshare, the largest regional bike sharing system in the United States with 1,100 bikes at more than 100 stations in the District and Arlington. Ridership on CaBi, even in the winter months, continues to grow and there are plans to add 20 stations and 200 more bikes in the next year. The sleek new system succeeds the capital’s pilot Smartbike program, which will cease operations as of January 3."

Wayne State’s Formula SAE team competed in two engineering student-design competitions in May and June.
Founded in 1978, the SAE Collegiate Design Series challenges students to design, build and race small formula-style race cars. The cars are judged in static and dynamic events that include elements such as design, cost, potential vehicle marketing, acceleration, autocross (handling and speed) and endurance/fuel economy.
The Wayne State team, dubbed Warrior Racing, was formed in 2003 and has competed every year since 2004.
At the Formula North competition, held May 22-25 in Barrie, Ont., the team was unable to compete in the dynamic events due to technical issues with this year’s racing car, the RW-8. However, the team excelled in the static events of marketing, design and cost. They placed 17th overall out of 28 teams.
At Formula West, held June 18-21 in Lincoln, Neb., Warrior Racing received its best scores ever in marketing and cost events. RW-8 passed through the fuel, tilt table, and noise level portions of the technical events. An issue with the brake system during the brakes test pushed the RW-8 to its limits and Warrior Racing was unable to receive its final tech sticker. However, the team still excelled in the static events. Warrior Racing’s marketing presentation earned 17th place out of 80 teams, its best score yet. The team also received their best score in the cost event, placing 4th place out of 80 teams.
The team says they received an invaluable amount of experience at these competitions and they are excited to continue working on RW-8.

I competed in the Busselton Half Iron Man today. I did the half marathon run leg as part of a team. Came in at 1 hour 37 minutes. It was a personal best, but I know I could have done better. The last part I had some cramping in my calf, and that slowed me down.
Good chance I'll do it next year as part of a team again.
