On Wednesday, December 2 at 7:30 pm, many of Nashville’s country and pop artists performed at Music City’s Mercy Lounge, with the goal of raising funds and awareness for the Global Food Crisis Fund, an initiative of Compassion International, a leading Christian child advocacy ministry. Funds raised will go towards assisting children and families affected by the global crisis, specifically in the most needed areas of the world where Compassion serves.

Avalokiteshvara Buddha or Buddha of Compassion, is the manifestation of the universal compassion of all enlightened beings. Trusting him, we naturally increase our own compassion.
His first two hands hold a jewel, symbolizing his own enlightenment, his second left hand holds a white lotus flower, symbolizing his complete purity of body, speech and mind, and his second right hand holds a crystal mala, symbolizing that he can free all living beings from samsara.

A detail of the stupa of Bodhnath. In four directions the eyes of Buddha view over the world. Those all-seeing eyes of Buddha are always open, so he can observe the world and the deeds of humanity. Buddha looks in this way to people with wisdom and compassion... Between the eyes is the third eye, the Buddhist symbol of insight. Under the eyes in place of the nose, a curly symbol in the shape of a question mark. It is the same shape as the Nepali number one, which symbolizes the unity of humanity and the path to unification with Buddha.
