Name: Carolee Collier
Location: Edinburgh, Scotland
Description: The silvery disc in the bottom of the photo is a large compass-monument located on top of Arthur's Seat. I really like the angle of the photo; it is open, with the rays of the compass pointing outwards in all directions and nothing but sky above and city below. You can see two people standing on the highest peak of the mountain in the near distance. The background, however, is blurry; you can sort of tell where the photographer is, but the location is not set in stone. It could change, and the foreground would remain just as powerful. This photo makes me think of travel and new horizons, and it is my idea of exploration in a nutshell.
Back to normal on the 588/589 today with both automatic Varios out. R47 is seen at the traffic lights at the bottom of the High Street on the 589 to Transporter.
A distribution plot of the Political Compass results from group members to date
Where are all the authoritarian communists?
For reference: this distribution is strongly biased because it is drawn from (1) people who are members of Flickr; (2) people who have chosen to take the Political Compass test; and (3) people who have responded to a request to include their results in this Flickr group. As a result, the distribution is (very) unlikely to be representative of the wider public view.

This looks like a functioning compass; the only problem is that the little clampy foot thing on the left is supposed to hold a pencil lead, but no matter how you turn the clamp on a lead as soon as you try and use the compass (and therefore put pressure on the lead) the lead goes flipping out of the compass. Useless and frustrating.
