Traveling Blythe Compass is here for her visit.
It was really nice to open her up and start the adventure.
Arriva Kent & Surrey decided that service 32, taken on commercially (with de minimis funding) in September 2012 as part of phase 3 of Surrey CC's Bus Review, was not performing adequately.
Surrey CC thus tendered for the route, with Compass Bus winning the new contract and taking over the service on Monday 1st June 2015. This expanded their operations from their Dunsfold base (which also runs the 42).
Arriva's last day was Saturday 30th May 2015. They had run the service since the demise of Tillingbourne in 2001.
Seen here in Earlswood is Compass Bus SK15 HBC. It's just turned into Brambletye Park Road from Emlyn Road, while taking the off peak 'extra' section of 32 route.
Peak journeys run straight along St John's Road.

Compartment containing Red Oak Victory's electrically-driven gyrocompass. This is the heart of the most accurate and precise system aboard that indicated the ship's direction of travel.
According to tags on the control panels, some or all of this Sperry Gyro-Compass system was manufactured under license by the Dodge Division of Chrysler Corporation.

SS Red Oak Victory, a Boulder Victory-class cargo ship built during World War II, is the only survivor of the 747 ships built at the Kaiser Richmond Shipyards. She is one of only three surviving Victory ships, larger and faster than the earlier Liberty ships.
Launched as SS Red Oak Victory, she was named in honor of Red Oak, Iowa, a town that had suffered a disproportionate number of casualties during the war. She was then commissioned as a U.S. Navy cargo ship, USS Red Oak Victory (AK-235), serving as an ammunition ship in the South Pacific until the end of World War II.
Red Oak Victory was crewed by the U.S. Merchant Marine during activations in support of the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and several international relief operations.
Today she is a museum ship, berthed at what remains of the Kaiser Richmond shipyard.

In many ways I am a traditional navigator. Yes there is computer navigation aboard and I use it. But my primary tools are the compass and knotmeter with a paper chart in front of me. This card shows that the compass is very accurate at all headings
