The basic concept behind Swarm Compass is to help people navigate by utilizing swarm intelligence. Going beyond simple signage to swarmbased social communication services is a task that the Japanese telecommunications company NTT and the Ars Electronica Futurelab have cooperatively invested in by using the Spaxels. The swarm infotainment demonstrated by drones is a prototype designed to be used in Tokyo in the year 2020, leading visitors and residents to their destinations in a playful manner.

Sometimes, when asked what I do for BT, I reply "they think I'm their Chief Web Services Architect when in fact I'm their self-appointed moral compass for the Web". In terms of the diagram, I've pushed all things good to the left of the diagram and things not so good at the right. I strongly believe good things lead to progress. I'll concede, I do tend to see things in black and white, like the drawing, though here it's primarily a device to promote discussion.

My attempt at getting some better compass plant flower images didn't work out so well, but a bit of a crop revealed an ant exploring one of the flowers.... My best ID guess is black carpenter ant: bugguide.net/node/view/151636.

The Gravity Stream Compass Rose:
Compass Roses are an old map drawing conceit that are used to point out the cardinal points of direction on maps and building plans. These standard cartographic elements have a very long history of varying ornamentation and have often been used to represent map-making / cartography in general.
I created this GravityStream compass rose in order to illustrate an annoucement I made about how GravityStream software is now able to perform Local Search Optimization and can fix typical store locator pages to get found in search engine results pages. GravityStream Optimizes Store Locators
There seem to be tons of compass roses in NYC parks. This is something of which I aprove whole-heartedly. This nice example is just inside the entrance to McGolrick Park.
The exterior of the 2014 Jeep Compass has been refined with specific updates that move the design forward. At the front of the Compass Latitude and Limited models the grille has been enhanced with a plated upper grille trim and mold-in-color Billet Silver grille texture. The halogen headlamps now have a black inner bezel on the Sport and Latitude models, and the Limited models sport projector halogen headlamps with a black inner bezel and chrome fog lamp bezels.
The Compass also features painted mirror caps, taillamps with a new “smoked” inner bezel, a plated chrome insert on the tailgate trim applique, new available 18-inch aluminum wheels on Limited models, and a new plated chrome insert with recessed “Jeep” badge on the tailgate trim applique for models equipped with the available rear backup camera.
