Electronic Compass based on the HMC6352 breakout board from Sparkfun and an Arduino. The led within +/-45 degrees of North is the one that is lit, and it also outputs the value on the serial port, for debug.
This is a proof of concept, I plan to do something a bit more interesting with this than
Just sent off this beautiful lugged, yellow gold metallic allroad bike to Vermont. It's got 650x48b tires to tackle the gravel roads of rural VT, front bag support with detachable pannier mounts, Schmidt connectorless dropouts up front (and internal wiring for the headlight and Compass taillight), MAP drops on the rear, and of course a fantastic paint job from Colorworks. Super sharp looking and reportedly rides just as nice as it looks:
Your bike was a great hit this weekend among a crowd of New Englanders...
It road solidly without a hitch over the weekend of about 230 miles. No shimmy up to 50mph on descents with ~20 lbs up front. And super comfy. Thanks again!
Here's to hoping it will see lots and lots of miles in the Vermont sunshine!
Turned a poster upside down on my table and put a sheet of glass over it. There are two florescent lamps to either side of the frame and a big mirror to the back of the table reflecting light.
Over a number of years Gordon Robson built up his commercial service 368 which operated (ultimately) from Stockton to the Transporter via Hartburn, North Tees Hospital and Billingham. He seemingly spotted the hard times that were ahead for small bus operators early and got out whilst still in the position of providing a quality service (something other operators have failed to do!). Stagecoach took on the routes, the 368 becoming the council-supported 588/9 in the process. Later, on re-tender, these passed (surprisingly) to Procters of Bedale, who outstationed a couple of Darts at Compass Royston's Stockton premises. Operating the service remotely was not without its issues and Compass Royston themselves became heir to the services and vehicles (and would later sell out to Procter). Here, under CR ownership, Dennis Dart / Wright K127LGO emerges from Wolviston, through which the service had been diverted after Stagecoach pulled their commercial service to the village.

Couldn't think of anything else to shoot today, there was a map lying around so I got out a compass and took a few shots. Yeah another cop out shot day, lol.
