I got 3 of those one euro dashboard compasses from Dealextreme. This one is just splendid, lively enough so you know it is not pointing to a knife under the map.

I spent the weekend before last, camping in the Mojave National Preserve with my kids. I introduced them to the compass and topographic map.
I think this is a good skill to learn. If you were in the outdoors for an extended period, you may run out of batteries for your GPS. I normally take topo maps with me even when I have more than one GPS

Compass Bus Worthing SK15HBC was taking a break from serving the Surrey Hills at the Friary Bus Station,Guildford on 26th November,2015.
Today, Compass Bus took over 5 buses worth of East Sussex County Council tenders previously operated by Renown. GX 54 AWH was seen in Eastbourne this afternoon on the 143 to Lewes. This bus has been returned to the fleet on a temporary basis pending the arrival of new buses.
