A prototype of Argonne's compact metrology system.

Some of the homes in our cleanup groups have gravel driveways. When a home’s driveway is gravel we clean up the driveway just like we clean up the lawn. After we remove the contaminated soil from the driveway, our crews place new gravel. Once the gravel is in place, they use a machine to compact it.

Dull and wet out today, at a loss for anything to photograph...except myself naked!...I'll spare you that, here's some boring cameras.

I pre-ordered all six Designer Villain Limited Edition Dolls, which I will receive on or close to October 15, 2012. In spite of (or maybe because of) so many of the real ones being made, there don't seem to be a lot of scale models of Mercedes 107s around. I was surprised to happen across this MicroMachines version for a couple of bucks on eBay, so I jumped at it .... but it was white, and repainting it to match the Merz is proving a real challenge for my shaky old hands. I resorted to using a toothpick instead of a paint brush for some of the smaller details, I should probably have given up on the brush earlier. It's still cute, though, you just have to not look too close. Still need to get some orange paint for the turn signal lenses.

I've always wondered how they manage to paint these little cars - trying to repaint one myself has not made this any more comprehensible. I was better at this sort of thing when I was 10; maybe small hands help

The model is actually a 560SLC, but that's pretty close. I painted over the vents on the sides to make them look like part of the side windows.

Market street, Manchester.

Portable radio UHF used for cycling and by the USPS Pro team. These are awesome for performance and size. Using them with a throat mic and earpiece.

Next halt- the Blood Compact Monument. This site tends to be rather nondescript thingy on the side of the road, with buildings on both sides and the open sea behind. Despite its supposed historical significance, there is not much hoo laa about it, it's just a bored place with a couple of trinkets sellers outside it. Good to stop by and take a picture, but little else. (Bohol- Tagbilaran, Philippines, May 2013)
