We then walked on to meet little Gangamma. This ten year old was all eager to take us to her house. Her parents were waiting near her broken house – evidence of another dream shattered. The father explained the fine details of how they had to abandon their only house only to find it collapse completely 30 minutes later. But Gangamma kept quiet. Instead she brought us her soiled school bag and damp school books - a stark reminder that she too was not spared. The broken house or the failed crop did not bother her much as her wet books did.

World Vision assisted the region by providing sprinkler irrigation units and HDPE pipes for two communities at Borpani and Kesarpura. Through this facility about 75 acres of land has been covered under irrigation which is more suitable for all field crops like wheat, gram, pulses as well as vegetables, cotton, soya bean. Thanks to the installation of sprinklers cultivation with less water has become a possibility thereby enabling more irrigation in the area. This sprinkler irrigation system provided by World Vision’s ADP has brought about greater change in the lives of farmers throughout the region.
