Spiral Q's 23rd annual Peoplehood Parade offers people of every neighborhood to represent their work and their communities to walk in solidarity with each other as they celebrate those living and working at the forefront of fighting against oppression and discrimination.
Peoplehood is not just an an event, it is also a beautiful art-making and community building process that takes hundreds of artists, activists, adults, children, and community members to create. Peoplehood is shaped by the people who create it.

The EBRD Community Initiative was set up in September 2016 to promote philanthropic and charitable activities in countries where the Bank operates.
The Community Initiative:
• supports staff fundraising efforts by matching their financial contributions to charities of their choice in countries where the Bank operates;
• provides targeted contributions to charitable and philanthropic projects in countries where the Bank operates on the occasion of the EBRD Annual Meetings.
This year, the EBRD Community Initiative will provide a targeted contribution to the charitable organisation PeacePlayers Cyprus (PPI-Cyprus), based in the buffer zone in Nicosia. By means of basketball tournaments and related training programmes, it enables 8 to 18 year old Turkish- Cypriot and Greek-Cypriot boys and girls to learn and play together, helping to reverse prejudices in segregated communities. The charity also promotes social inclusion and female empowerment, working with local schools and civil society organisations to engage parents and other members of local communities. The donation by the EBRD Community Initiative will enable the PPI-Cyprus to increase the number of children involved in the initiative, build the relationship of trust and encourage them to act as “agents of change” in their local communities.

Briceville Community Church, Briceville, Tennessee.
Built circa 1887 by Welsh immigrants coming into the area to work the coal mines, this church served as a cornerstone for the local community during the violent labor disputes of the Coal Creek War and two major deadly coal mining disasters.
Its history is too extensive to properly summarize here, but I suggest looking at its National Register of Historic Places form (catalog.archives.gov/id/135817619) and the Historic Marker Database (www.hmdb.org/m.asp?m=102331).
The church is currently undergoing restoration work, and more information about that project can be found at the Coal Creek Watershed Foundation (www.coalcreekaml.com/).

The DCPA hosted a community roundtable on March 2 gathering members of various faiths to talk about the Theatre Company's upcoming production of Ayad Akhtar’s play 'Disgraced.' The gathering was an opportunity to discuss otherness and sometimes false suppositions we make just by looking at someone 'Disgraced' is a provocative, turbulent, Pulitzer Prize-winning play focuses on a Manhattan corporate lawyer named Amir who questions his suppressed Muslim identity as his white wife — an up-and-coming New York painter — embraces Islamic artistic tradition.
