2014 Bristol Indiana Homecoming Parade and Carnival. Rain was threatened for Saturday, July 14, 2014, the day of the annual Bristol Indiana Homecoming Parade. The rain mostly held off, but eventually, a light warm rain fell and umbrellas popped up on the sidelines and the participants dispersed to seek shelter at the end.

The Bristol Indiana Homecoming is one of the oldest continuing festivals in Indiana and is held in July each year, generally the second week.
The Festival features the Queen and Citizen of the year contest, the Carnival and events in Congdon Park, the Saturday Parade and the famous Bristol Fireworks show on Saturday at the end of the Homecoming.
This community Hall is in front of St. John in the wilderness church. It was built in 1904 and restored in 1975.

Students got to learn about various clubs and community opportunities in the courtyard on January 31, 2018.
Formerly known as the Chesley Centennial Park this greenspace is over 2 acres in size, the largest park in the community. The park is protected forever from urban development as part of the condition of bequeathing it to the town. The park includes a river (where many of us learned to swim), skateboard park, 4 ball diamonds, playground, splash pad, picnic areas, modern swimming pool and tobagganing hill.

Job title/where do you work: Administrative Assistant at Cody Child Development Center.
Military service or other unit name: I am civilian. My husband is active duty U.S. Army.
What’s the most rewarding part of your current position and why?
I get to welcome all the children and parents to the Cody CDC and learn all about them.

Favorite place you’ve ever traveled to or been stationed: San Antonio, Texas - Sea World.
What do you like most about working on/visiting JBM-HH? There is so much history here.
What do you like most about living in the National Capital Region? There is so much to do around here, and so much history to see; it’s amazing.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough - give your best anyway.
If you won the lottery, what would you do? Spoil my kids and Husband, go shopping and travel.
What are your goals for the year? To visit the museums and historical sites before we have to move again.
What advice do you have for someone getting stationed at JBM-HH? Be patient with the traffic. There is lots of history on JBM-HH and the surrounding area. Try to learn about the area you are in.

Went in a different direction for my morning walk & surprised to see this community herb garden. How nice.
The City of Chicago opened the last of the city's 18 municipal bath houses at S. Racine Avenue and W. 33rd Street to provide much-needed bathing facilities in working-class neighborhoods. The facility and nearby Wilson Park were named for Bridgeport Alderman John P. Wilson (1893-1968), who was instrumental in developing the bath house. The Chicago Park District acquired the bath house from the Bureau of Parks and Recreation in 1959. The underused bathing facilities closed the following year. The Park District renovated the building in the late 1960s, and the Wilson Community Center is now devoted entirely to recreational purposes. The community center's gymnasium was named for Joseph Bertucci, who had worked to transform the bath house into a recreational center serving children of all ages, in 1992.

Kadiatu Koroma, 30 years old holding her daughter Isatu Sisay, 9 months old talks with Community health worker Osman S Koroma, 23 years old during a mother's group that meets weekly in the village of Kathirie, Safroko Limba chiefdom, Bombali district, Sierra Leone on March 30, 2017. They talk about maternal health including vaccinations and breastfeeding. Osman measures the arm of Isatu and observes that she has moderate acute malnutrition. He refers Kadiatu to take her baby the next day to the closest health facilities, 7 miles away. Kadiatu has given birth three times, two of which she did at home because she was not aware of the dangers of home delivery and the benefits of giving birth at a health center. That changed when a CHW was recruited in their village. “I decided to give birth to the twins at a health center because of the sensitization I got from Osman. He monitored me to the last moments of my pregnancy. I practiced exclusive breastfeeding because he took his time to really explain to me how my child will benefit from it,” she said. During one of Osman’s routine visits, he found out that one of the twins was moderately malnourished and he referred her to the Binkolo Community Health Center, where she is receiving treatment. Osman Koroma has been a CHW since 2011. The 23-year-old said he became a CHW because he wanted to help people in his community “I saw that my people needed help. Women were dying due to child birth related issues. Children under the age of five were also dying because they were not getting medical attention early when they fell ill. But I was particularly moved when my sister died whiles giving birth at home,” he said. Osman has made it a routine to look out for sick children and pregnant women to ensure they access medical services at health facilities whenever they need to. He was also very instrumental in controlling the spread of Ebola in his village during the outbreak in Sierra Leone, through surveillance, contact tracing and ensuring that quarantined households adhered to the quarantine procedures.

Deep Creek Middle School and The Island School come together to work on community projects during the semester. Last week, they met their buddies!
Riverfront Community Rowing Program - From college students to retirees, beginners to the very experienced, men and women of all ages and physical abilities participate in Beginning, and Intermediate and Experienced classes in both large, team boats (sweep rowing) and smaller, individual boats (sculling). Other adults compete on Competitive Racing Teams and college students can take part in a summer membership. Classes are offered in both the a.m. and p.m.
