I actually committed a major no-no priming these boards. Having forgotten my gesso at home, I had to use what was available to me, which was rabbit-skin glue that had gone bad. I poured off the mold, melted what was underneath it, and painted it on. I still did not have enough to properly prime the boards, so the only thing I had left was black acrylic paint and some matte gel medium. I mixed the two together, sanded between the two coats, et voila - two rancid smelling panels. It stunk up the hallway outside my studio for the day. My studio neighbor shamed me for it, stating that what is usually on top, will be in what is below. So I guess I can count on fighting the mold. If this ends up somewhere other than the dump, the archivists are gonna be pissed.
