I have committed myself to walking everyday for a year. I am reaching about 95% execution. I have missed a couple of days since starting this in June. My goal is not about weight, though I would like to lose some but about getting fit in my 50's so I am better off later in life. So long story short, I take my camera with me and have been taking pics along my walk. The people who do the landscaping around my area do a wonderful job and I enjoy taking flower pictures although it is not my usual thing. Once in awhile they come out and I like them. So hence the flower shots.

My title is Rick Porter and I’ve just committed myself to obtaining back into shape and completely transforming my physique in the age of 44. More than the last 5 years of operating from house with my web company I have gained 40 pounds of body fat, created diabetes, high blood pressure, and have extremely reduced power ranges.

As of December 1st I have began this website to document my journey of obtaining back into shape and obtaining wholesome once more for myself and my family members. I’m not a stranger to well being and fitness. In 1989 I was a higher school wrestling state champion in the excess weight of 152 pounds. Afterwards I joined the U.S. Marines and spent 4 years within the infantry stationed in Hawaii. The fountain at the junction of three roads (tre vie)[2] marks the terminal point[3] of the "modern" Acqua Vergine, the revived Aqua Virgo, one of the ancient aqueducts that supplied water to ancient Rome. In 19 BC, supposedly with the help of a virgin, Roman technicians located a source of pure water some 13 km (8.1 mi) from the city. (This scene is presented on the present fountain's façade.) However, the eventual indirect route of the aqueduct made its length some 22 km (14 mi). This Aqua Virgo led the water into the Baths of Agrippa. It served Rome for more than four hundred years.[4] The coup de grâce for the urban life of late classical Rome came when the Goth besiegers in 537/38 broke the aqueducts. Medieval Romans were reduced to drawing water from polluted wells and the Tiber River, which was also used as a sewer.

The Roman custom of building a handsome fountain at the endpoint of an aqueduct that brought water to Rome was revived in the 15th century, with the Renaissance. In 1453, Pope Nicholas V finished mending the Acqua Vergine aqueduct and built a simple basin, designed by the humanist architect Leon Battista Alberti, to herald the water's arrival."

Cork City Gaol is a former prison, now a museum, located in Cork City, Ireland. History

In 1806 an Act of Parliament was passed to allow the building of a new Cork City Gaol to replace the old Gaol at the Northgate Bridge (the old Gaol which was nearly 100 years was on a confined site and was overcrowded & unhygienic).[1]

The first site chosen for the new prison was at distillery fields but this site was later deemed to be unsuitable because it was prone to flooding.[1]

A site on Sunday's Well was eventually chosen, its altitude being seen as an advantage for containing "Gaol fever" (typhus).[1]

The site, its approach roads and perimeters was commenced in 1816 and the building of the prison proper started in 1818.[1]

The building was designed by William Robertson of Kilkenny and built by the Deane family.[1]

The famous sculptor, John Hogan worked on the building as a draughtsman.[1]

Description

The new Cork City Gaol opened in 1824 & was reported as being "the finest in 3 kingdoms".[1]

In 1870 the west wing was remodelled into a double sided cell wing.[1]

When the prison opened in the 1820s it housed both male and female prisoners, whose crimes were committed within the city boundary. Anyone committing a crime outside that boundary were committed to the County Gaol, across the river from the City Gaol near University College Cork.[1]

Nineteenth Century

The Fenian Brian Dillon was remanded at Cork City Gaol when he was arrested in September 1865.[2]

Women's Gaol (City and County)

The 1878 General Prisons (Ireland) Act reorganised the prisons in Cork. The Cork City Gaol became a Women’s Gaol (for Cork City and Cork County) and the Cork County Gaol near UCC became the men’s gaol (for Cork City and Cork County). On the day the change came into effect male prisoners were marched out of the Sunday’s Well Prison and over to the Western Road Gaol, while the women were marched in the opposite direction.
