You have no engagements, commitments, obligations, or duties; no special ambitions and only the smallest, least complicated of wants; you exist in a tranquil tedium, serenely beyond the reach of exasperation, “far removed from the seats of strife,” as the early explorer and botanist William Bartram put it. All that is required of you is a willingness to trudge.
There is no point in hurrying because you are not actually going anywhere. However far or long you plod, you are always in the same place: in the woods. It’s where you were yesterday, where you will be tomorrow. The woods is one boundless singularity. Every bend in the path presents a prospect indistinguishable from every other, every glimpse into the trees the same tangled mass. For all you know, your route could describe a very large, pointless circle. In a way, it would hardly matter.
-- Bill Bryson
If you see a married couple still in love through the
years, you may think how lucky they are.
But in marital relations, there is no such thing as
luck.
They made many compromises, they overlooked each others faults.
They forgave many mistakes, and endured many problems.
They spent years learning to understand one another.
Love has never been a matter of luck, its a mutual giving
compromise, shared dreams, care, respect, mercy and patience.
*Thank you Adrian for sticking with this bag of bones for decades....I love the new home, I love the beautiful gardens you masterfully set down, and I love you.

This is again an attempt to photograph people and daily life in Paris in a way that keep the anonymity of the person. I will post soon some examples where people are recognizable. Here I was fascinated by the light on the chairs and his way of raking the leaves
There are only two options regarding commitment.
You're either in or out.
There's no such thing as a life in-between.

Sometimes I get lucky. This pair did not notice me standing with my tripod. They swam up close, completely undisturbed. Their gift presentation was also a gift to me; Clark's Grebes; Aechmophorus clarkii; Santa Margarita Lake; CA; USA

We have so many entrepreneurs and we desperately need people to discover something to replace plastic which is ruining our oceans, our lands, humanity, animal life, plant life, and climate. It is imperative that we are serious about this and find a solution immediately. Our children will suffer even more from our lack of caring, and if we don't do something soon it will be catastrophic!
The plastic pollution-free world is not a choice but a commitment to life - a commitment to the next generation.

The usage of plastic in packing medicines will pack the earth medically unfit for any life.

If we say no to plastic bags, it will save millions of people down the line.

"Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach the next generation the value of freedom."
These are the words from Wreaths Across America's (WAA) website noted as "Our Mission". And, it is clearly observed in their commitment to the soldiers buried across the country in the many "national cemetery's" with the wreaths placed against the headstones. However, this is just one of the many ways that WAA remembers, honors, and teaches the next generation about our fallen. Please check out their website for more information about the many ways they accomplish this goal...
Additionally, the location of the photograph above is the Nashville National Cemetery in Madison, Tennessee (just north of Downtown Nashville) which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). More information about this "national cemetery" can be found here:

Work commitments were favourable enough for me to hang on at Farnborough for this, and I was very glad that I did! This year is the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. We remember the sorrow of that day but also the dedication, commitment and strength of those who responded to the tragic events
Dedicated Laysan albatross mates alternate parental duties taking turns sitting on the nest and foraging for food. Tending the nest can mean a commitment of up to two weeks or more before swapping duties and heading out to sea to feed. This Laysan albatross (Phoebastria immutabilis) nest site was in the shade of a naio shrub on the sand dunes of Ka’ena Point.
This farmer stood there for hours, on the side of the highway, braving dust and pollution, to offer free food and sweets to the passing traffic.

Amidst the bustling streets of Kathmandu, near Shree Pashupatinath, I came across a scene that has become emblematic of the city—an old man dressed in yellow robes, reminiscent of a Sadhu. Sadhus, wandering ascetics devoted to a spiritual path, can be frequently spotted in the streets, particularly in areas frequented by tourists. They wear distinctive saffron or yellow robes, often adorned with sacred symbols, and carry an aura of spiritual significance. It's worth noting that authentic Sadhus embody renunciation, deep spiritual practice, and an unwavering commitment to their chosen path. While encounters with genuine Sadhus remain meaningful, it is important to be discerning in distinguishing them from those who may dress similarly for different reasons - Shree Pashupatinath, Kathmandu, Nepal
Work commitments meant i missed the outbound legs of the three Mazey day specials that passed through Teignmouth today but i was determined to get some shots of the return trips.
A fog bank that descended along the coast of south devon did its best to scupper all my plans so i headed inland where the fog had not penetrated.
This shot was taken high on a hill overlooking the River Exe with Lympstone Commando Marine training barracks on the north shore.

This is the second member of Northern General's Venture Transport subsidiary to be featured in this collection. This time I'm able to use a genuine image, kindly supplied in monochrome form by Keith Lee. Judging by the slightly worn appearance, it appears to be an in-service view. Whilst this livery could be described as a half-hearted venture (pun optional), the real failure was not so much in the livery but in the commitment behind it. Only six vehicles were delivered new in this scheme (but others received it retrospectively - see comments), which quickly gave way to poppy red - initially with Venture fleetnames in NBC style. One vehicle retained the livery into preservation - or was perhaps repainted back into it - but it appears to have subsequently fallen by the wayside (28-Feb-11).

Other U.S. Marines from Amphibious Assault Company, Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force and Thais search and provide cover. This is the third step in the five “C” method from the counter IED class they received.
