A face of a Colombian woman is seen behind the crucifix during the religious healing ceremony performed at a house church in Bogota, Colombia. Hundreds of Christian belivers, joined in nameless groups, gather every week in unmarked home churches dispersed in the city outskirts, to carry out prayers of liberation and exorcism. Community members and their religious activities are usually conducted by a charismatic pastor or preacher. Using either non-contactive methods (reading religous formulas from bible, displaying Christian symbols and icons) or rough body-pressure-points techniques and forced burping, a leading pastor commands the supposed evil spirit, which is generally believed to come from witchcraft, to depart a person’s mind and body. The demon’s expulsion often consists of multiple rites and may last for several months. © Jan Sochor Photography

And finally, EXCELLENT reading, as ALWAYS, by Mr. Roger Launius (truly a gentleman and a scholar), pertaining to the event depicted, and leading up to it:

Although I’ve been informed (by a reputable source) that this is by Henry Lozano, I still kind of think it’s by Gary Meyer. Actually, who cares, it’s outstanding.

This is a reproduction built by Joe W. Araldi of the original Command-Aire MR-1 Little Rocket Racer 10403

In 1926, the Arkansas Aircraft Company was founded in Little Rock (Pulaski County) to build small personal airplanes. The company represented the first and one of the few aircraft companies that have existed in Arkansas. The Arkansas Aircraft Company, which later became known as Command-Aire, was nationally known for its aircraft, and it was one of the country’s leading airplane manufacturers in the late 1920s.

Although the company remained in business only from 1926 until 1931, the planes built by the company were well known, especially after the All-America Flying Derby. The 5,541-mile race, which began on July 21, 1930, in Detroit and ended eleven days later, featured overnight control stops in Buffalo, New York; New York City; Cincinnati, Ohio; Little Rock; Houston, Texas; San Angelo, Texas; Douglas, Arizona; Los Angeles, California; Ogden, Utah; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Chicago, Illinois, before returning to Detroit. The race’s purpose was to demonstrate the feasibility of long-distance flight by light airplanes. Lee Gehlbach, piloting a specially built Command-Aire plane named the “Little Rocket,” which flew at an average speed of 127.11 m.p.h., won the race. His prize was $15,000, a tremendous amount of money during the Depression. Command-Aire planes were also well known for being one of only two designs to pass the 1929 Guggenheim Safety Trial, in which all existing aircraft designs were test-flown and judged for safety.

Although approximately 300 planes were built by Command-Aire, only a handful remain today.

The U.S. and ROKAF aircraft flew across the Korean Peninsula and practiced attack capabilities by releasing live weapons at the training area before returning to their respective home stations. This mission was conducted in direct response to North Korea's intermediate range ballistic missile launch, which flew directly over northern Japan on September 14 amid rising tension over North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile development programs. In this photo taken by Command Module Pilot John Young, the ascent stage of the Apollo 10 Lunar Module (LM) is seen prior to docking in lunar orbit. Mission Commander Thomas P. Stafford and Lunar Module Pilot Eugene A. Cernan are returning to the Command and Service Module "Charlie Brown" after descending in the LM, known as "Snoopy," to within 14.4 km of the lunar surface. The LM had flown over Landing Site 2 in the Sea of Tranquility, testing the systems and procedures that would be used during the first Apollo lunar landing that would happen two months later during the Apollo 11 mission. The LM descent stage was jettisoned into lunar orbit.

Here, I bring back the old 9V Light & Sound system, providing flashing lights and sound to the vehicle. That injects quite a lot of fun (and old memories) to this build. The battery does occupy quite some space, but the overall proportion still looks very nice. Enjoy!
