Members of the Joint Sustainment Command Afghanistan gathered together for a transfer of authority ceremony marking the official transfer of authority for the JSC-A to the 4th Expeditionary Sustainment Command from the 184th ESC. JSC-A’s mission is to provide logistics and sustainment capabilities for Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. About the 401st:
The 401st Army field Support Brigade gives our Soldiers, Sailors, Airman, and Marines, the tools and resources necessary to complete the mission. If they shoot, drive it, fly it, wear it, eat it or communicate with it, the 401st helps to provide it. The brigade also assists coalition partners with many of their logistical and sustainment needs. The brigade will also handle to responsible disposition of equipment in Afghanistan as the mission here changes. The 401st is the single link between warfighters in the field and Army Materiel Command.

REAM NAVAL BASE, Cambodia (Dec. 11, 2011) - Marines with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit arrive in country. ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam (Jan. 27, 2010) - Airmen from the 36th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron load a conventional air launch cruise missile onto a B-52 during a recent operational readiness exercise. The mission of the 36th Wing is to employ, deploy, integrate and enable air and space forces from the most forward U.S. sovereign Air Force base in the Pacific. U.S. Army Sgt. Maj. Sarah B. Howard, an operations Sergeant Major with the 207th RSG, served in Desert Storm as a Replacement Operations Clerk with the 460th Replacement Detachment, 18th Airborne Corps. She reports that her unit arrived in Saudi Arabia on December 15, 1990, a month before Operation Desert Shield became Desert Storm. “We were located in Dhahran in Tent City when the first scud missile was launched and intercepted by US Patriot missile,” said Howard. “Needless to say, we were in MOPP level four for 24 hours straight.” She remembers having the opportunity to shake hands with President George H. W. Bush. Desert Storm was the first of six deployments for Sgt. Maj. Howard.

The 8th Theater Sustainment Command hosted a Command Chief Warrant Officer Change of Responsibilities Ceremony April 6 at the Hale Ikena on Fort Shafter, Hawaii.
Chief Warrant Officer 5 Daniel Villarreal, the outgoing CCWO, transferred his position and responsibilities to Chief Warrant Officer 4 (P) Mark Parr, the incoming CCWO.
The CCWO provides the command team with all-encompassing expertise on warrant officers and oversees the training, placement and managing 25 different warrant officer specialties within the 8th TSC. The CCWO also addresses any issues that the warrant officers' family members may have, while striving to create a culture of professionalism in our ranks.
With this coming at the end of an illustrious 29 year career, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Villarreal reminded the many attending Warrant officers from across Oahu to be the most professional soldier in their formations. Warrant officers are a positive role model and should take every opportunity to teach, coach, and mentor all who seek your guidance: Soldiers, NCOs, officers, and warrant officers alike.

Generals and senior leaders for the National Guard made a brief stop in Kandahar to view the upgrade MRAP all terrain vehicle. The MATV is being used by Soldiers in Afghanistan and is a smaller more agile version of the mine resistant ambush protected vehicles also in use. The generals came to see the upgraded version that is currently being fielded by the 401st Army Field Support Brigade.
