(Driving to this part of Lebanon from Beirut is an adventure by itself.)

A very well conserved Roman temple. The one beside it, that of

Jupiter, is simply majestic... You have to wonder why the Romans built

something like it outside of Rome. It's really gigantic...

I wonder if this is what the first day of middle school feels like. Mine was too long ago. I don't remember.

Tetrapylon - It was the monumental gateway which greeted pilgrims when they approached the Temple of Aphrodite. The Tetrapylon consisted of four rows of four columns connects the major street to the sacred way heading toward the sanctuary of Aphrodite.

Built between 1840 and 1843 to commemorate Admiral Horatio Nelson, the 5.5 m (18 ft) statue of Nelson stands on top of a 46 m (151 ft) Foggintor granite column. The top of the Corinthian column is decorated with bronze acanthus leaves cast from British cannon. The square pedestal is decorated with four bronze panels, cast from captured French guns, depicting Nelson's four great victories.

The monument was designed by architect William Railton in 1838, and built by the firm Peto & Grissell.

The sandstone statue at the top was sculpted by E.H. Baily, the four bronze panels around the pedestal were undertaken by the sculptors Musgrave Watson, John Ternouth, William F Woodington, and John Edward Carew

Erechtheion's north porch after it's restoration.

I went into Manchester city centre the other day, and even though I've lived here for three years, I've only ever done two previous shoots around here, so I thought it was time for a third. I also find it really difficult to do street photography, because I feel awkward when people look at me, so I thought it would be good to just force myself to do it and see what happens. :)
